Vinomofo Wine Deals

Hi. I'm a long time "lurker" and thought it was high time to end that and join. Thanks to all the contributors to the forum who have enabled me to make informed purchases and enjoy some good VM bargains along the way. Really enjoying the extra bonus for August for recruiting mates! Does anyone have any pointers for figuring out unknown wines other than searching through the forum or using google? Any suggestions on today's BMD 2013 cab sav for $9.90? Cheers.

If it's restocked then a search here or OzBargain will turn it up. If it's new, then check what scores/awards it has, and that generally narrows it down to one (or two) candidates. The result is usually a producer that has a pre-existing relationship with VM.

Edit: the 2013 Cab Sauv $33 down to $9.90 one? It's Capel Vale.

Welcome Charlie :)

Sometimes searching part of the description with Google can help. In this case I used "cabernet featuring succulent mulberry and blackberry fruit complemented by dark chocolate and cedar". One of the results showed it being used in a mixed case previously, so I think it will be the Capel Vale Cellar Exclusive Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon 2013.

Another way is if they have a WineCompanion rating & you are a member of WC by process of elimination year, variety, location, rating etc narrow it down to a couple of choices.

Thanks for the advice. Silly me - have bought that one before. ooops.

New Black Market Barossa 2013 Cab Sav possibly Possum Creek

Very confident you are right.
Recently Possum Creek shiraz was offered.
Alcohol correct down to the decimal point 15.2%.
The ONLY description that doesn't fit is the Screw closure instead of Diam for the Possum.

Currently drinking this and not to my liking - over acidic (eucalyptic?)

Apologies, vintage 2012 is what I am drinking.

Seems to be happening more frequently.....growing pains perhaps?

My Riposte showed up pretty quickly though.

Have people had the 2010 version of the Iron Duke and that's why you are all passing?

The tasting notes seem positive enough...

On the side note, is the 2013 Pyrenees Chardonnay another Glenlofty?

Anyone in for the VIM offer of Bleasdale Iron Duke Cabernet 2012?

Thinking about it. However have acquired a ton of Cab Sauv recently - the new Riddoch through to all the other Wynns that VM were selling so not sure I want more - already got a few via the Halliday mix pack. Am in for the Paxton though
