Vinomofo Wine Deals

I didn't dismiss it. What I said was I wouldn't buy that wine if Vinomofo refused to supply enough details, especially as it was a 2011 vintage which has been widely recognized as a poor vintage in the area.

Not saying you specifically, but so many people do the "oh 2011, bad year, not worth it". I agree with a wine where you cant be sure about it, but some people apply it as a blanket rule. More for me, right? :p

Especially as it was a 2011 vintage which has been widely recognized as a poor vintage in the area. I too have some great bottles from 2011. But many of the wines from that year just aren't worth buying when there's still so many great opportunities from 2010 and 2012 available currently.

But I certainly cannot agree with this statement 'No winemaker is going to release a poor wine'. The reality is that many winemakers just can't afford to skip a vintage just because it is poor.

I believe it was an oversight by VM. The odd one out with no alc and cellaring details.
Just don't buy without knowing the identity. Serves VM right.
I suppose even Redbigot would have a hard time with such scarce details.

2011 vintage is generally regarded as "bad". Maybe WA is different. There has got to be "good" somewhere. :)

The recent/current case of Haselgrove Cruth proves the point.
2011 $48 from $170
2012 $64 from $170

There have been a few wineries I've been too where they've skipped a vintage due to poor crop or low yield. Surely a good winemaker would want to preserve their reputation? Depends on the winery I guess.

I bought some 2011 vasse Felix cab sav without checking too closely and found out later it rated a 89 to the usual mid 90s.

henschke one of their wines when you read their tasting notes from 2010 and 2012 had 20 year cellaring scope and only 10 years on the 2011.

Causes me a problem because I was looking for a good 2011 wine and pickings are slim. (Buying now I left it a bit late)

Only the premium or flagship are spared. Fruits would generally flow to second or third label or maybe even "clean skin".

Is 2015 a good year?
Judging by the free fruits available to Vinomofo for the homeless project, I would say it is a BOUNTIFUL year.
I suppose not too good for premium labels (unless culled much earlier).

Ok Folks, here is a great question for those of you who have been 'serious' admirers of the fermented grape and probably decade drinkers. Do YOU think that the 2012 vintage generally was the best in the last decade, or was it all a media driven publicity stunt to drive purchases? I guess a response from a vertical taster would be appropriate. Cheers.

We've really been enjoying the Wolf Blass Single Vineyard Cab Sav (exclusive through Epiqure).

Here's a question. If all 2011 wines are "bad" and are low rated, does that mean all 2010 wines are "phenomenol" and deserving of high-90s ratings? Or is is all a bit of marketing hype...?

Powder Alcohol - Just add water.

Powdered alcohol made legal in the US | Food Magazine

The Victorian Government said it will move to ban “Palcohol” after the manufacturer has reportedly shown interest in the Australian market.
Palcohol has been approved for sale in the United States, with the manufacturer planning to begin selling the powdered alcohol “this summer”.
One standard drink is made by adding a packet of the powder to three-quarters of a cup of water and the maker has flagged “food applications” such as “adult ice-cream” as a potential use for the product.

But how did it taste stonewall, never mind the numbers?

Havent tried it yet it was my daughter's "birthday" wine. Figured it would be nice to be able pull out a bottle at special occasions. So haven't tried one yet.

will have a look at wolf class cab sav black cat.

Best's 2011 Bin 1 Shiraz was a fantastic wine, I am pretty sure I was told it was because they gave the Bin 0 a miss that year, so they used the fruit from that wine in the Bin 1 range....I could be mistaken.

Any ideas on this one? - mof_ SECRET Deal Shiraz 2011 - Red Wine
They're making it hard to guess by withholding the alcohol & cellar date.

As I predicted missing deatils is an oversight. Here's VM response:
