Vinomofo Wine Deals

Just had an update from the 'Fo that my Driftwood Cab Sav has shipped (ordered on Wednesday) but can still see the Hart of the Barossa 'The Brave' as "picking" which was ordered last Monday, always feel a bit frustrated living in Tas and knowing that shipping takes quite a bit longer than our mainland brethren. Point being it is still going to take quite a while even when it does finally hit the road... :-|

Do not despair I understand your feelings but even the mainlanders like me are in the same boat our Hart of the Barossa is still picking and I ordered the day it came out. Cheers

Thanks for your commiserations Rug, I must have ordered the same day as you, just out of curiosity when is delivery flagged for you (mine says 24th of August)?

No one's scratching the full on biodynamic 2013 shiraz, down to 19.90from 65. You might end up with a few dried insects with the immaculate sustainability followed by these guys. A new description ensues, deep plum, full bodied, in fact full of bodies. Ever so Moorish.

I missed seeing what this Adelaide Hills wine is....

has as anyone tried the Clare Cab blend? (Erin eyes)

The BF works in mysterious ways but I think he may be alluding to biodynamic cultivation encouraging the inclusion of the odd "foreign body", the grammar naz_ in me takes exception to 'moorish' for 'moreish' and 'palette' for 'palate' in some of the posts on FF but Beefarmer is a sly old dog and is probably chuckling somewhere distant right now at the perplexed looks and furrowed brows his posts elicit....

At this stage it just says Friday no actual date so as usual it could change. Lets see how we both do. I will post on day of its arrival. Cheers

Maybe it's all that high quality Maverick wine that has turned me into a potential lover of alternate wine manufacturing processes. Nothing like a little crunch with your lunch. And so the question went out while I was munching into a lovely satay pie washed down with a lovely one dollar coffee ex Seven eleven. A quick glance at todays offerings had me thinking that surely this one would be a difficult one for AC? It certainly had me scratching my own foibles. Alas, with two recent Fo returns, I was a little reticent to see Tom Hanks again so put it out there to the group, a collective of wine loving afficianados who love a good challenge.

And I post this as I am into my second glass of Voyager estate's Girt by Sea 2012 cabernet merlot. As part of a DM Mystery pack, it's mediocre. Would not have wanted to part with the late twenties, but amortised with the 2009 Meshach it's just alright. I think andy graham has nailed the review about a year ago.

In leaving, it suddenly dawned on me that this is a ridiculous name for a wine. Girt by sea hey. the fourth line on our national anthem that no one knows. How many of our Aussies out there in Rio are actually singing this ?
Vinomofos let us all rejoice,
For cough wine returned will always be free.
We've gold and enough iron ore dug up,
From the Pilberra to the sea.

Doesn't that sound better than girt by sea?

Our land abounds in nature's gifts,
Of beauty rich and rare.
And if you like a West Ozzie cabernet,
Then I recommend a Devils Lair.

And so would our sunblessed Warnie,

Yeah Yeah.

Swings and roundabouts being sold on VM? Couple that with the oyster bay Pinot they were pushing recently makes me think they have lost that 'edge'.

Or perhaps we now need to be a bit more selective?

Definitely! Still the only excuse for them is wrong time of the year. Remember we were given plenty April to June. Cheers.

I'm an equal opportunity drinker (and buyer) so I do tend to bandy it about a bit but VM has offered that little 'je ne sais quoi' not afforded by other merchants and I keep coming back to them. Mind you a couple of this years buys have tested my allegiance...

The 65 down to 19.9 Adelaide Hills Shiraz? Brackenwood 2013 Reserve is my guess. Brackenwood Vineyard

reading the background to this has certainly got my interest up. still have a day to ponder but it feels OK. Single vineyard, alternate style, hmm interesting. Anyone had any Brackenwoods in the past? This compares with one of our premiers, WoodenBracks. Who remember Ernie Eeeels

Smilies go a long way to setting the tone of a post - especially if humour is intended. :)
I am thankful that I have missed the recent attempts at humour but thankful we can get back to some serious vinomofo hanky panky. I am still to try that Squitchy, I keep pulling it off as I know it needs many open hours. Planning like that is not really conducive to my style. I am little bit of a peter evans Neanderthal type. Grab one from the herd, rip it's top off, or sadly these days, destelvinise it and gently get carried away by the sensual bouquet and open invitation from the forests of France. Folks, what Fo wines(to keep this in check) are we drinking tonight? I should go and wash my care and get of perusing as the 2015 Norfolk Rise shiraz seems a true steal. Again, I may have fallen for the ' because it normally sells for a lot more , therefore it must be a lot better' concept. Like a few recent Fo's, they have seriously overdelivered for the price paid. Tonight, a coughrook Cab merlot 2009 to go with a 13year olds birthday pizza night close to home. Life is tough.

Below, a Norfolk 2015 comment.

Now, 96 Points, Top Gold and Best Shiraz Trophy is one thing - after all, there has to be a winner - but what are the chances that of the 400+ Shiraz exhibited and including the likes of ($100) Lehmann Stonewall, ($90) McWilliams 1877 and ($80) Seppelt St Peters, just to name a few medal winners, the winning wine can be offered at a lower price than all others?
The win cemented the Mount Benson wine region as a premium Shiraz producing region, scoring higher than entries from wineries such as S.C Pannel, The Lane Vineyard, Grant Burge, Bird in Hand and Hentley Farm

This kind of thing certainly has me thinking. It has me thinking outside the square to Thinking outside the circle. They don't get everything right these judges, but they sure get some right i.I. the trophy for the Jack Shiraz. So in an industry much involved in hyperbole, over enthusiasm , over advertising, just how good is this Norfolk?

I know what you are thinking. Just buy some and then I will know. It's what I was thinking as well, so is it another moment where ' great minds think alike' or
'fools seldom differ'. I will ponder that thought over a capricciosa tonight.

I bought a 12 pack of the Norfolk 2010 Merlot and split it with a work colleague.

At $9 a bottle I thought it was a bargain and a decent wine. I'm sure this Shiraz will also be good value at $9 a bottle but I doubt in the cold light of day, and when you've finished the first bottle, you'd give it 96 points yourself.
