Vinomofo Wine Deals

Whats with all the hinting stuff? This thread is meant to help people buy good wine, not drive them nuts trying to work out all the random clues.

Because I didn't work it out, and out of respect for who did I will wait till they post it, if they want to.

As for 'driving people nuts' vs. 'helping people out' I think my record in this forum speaks for itself.

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Things are not always obvious. As a group we pool our resources and then I am sure we can work it out

But when someone knows the answer and posts vague hints it's not particularly helpful. If you know it, post it so the rest of us can make a decision rather than waste time trying to work out the clues. I avoid cryptic crosswords for a reason.

Ditto.

I am totally cough at cryptic crosswords.

My primary school motto was 'Knowledge is strength'.

We share knowledge, VM sell more vino. It's a win, win, for producer and consumer.

If the producer does not want to submit to the VM process, so be it, but they are deliberately cutting out the middleman.

Welcome to the new Economy.

Can somebody please tell me what the Hannah's Swing is going for on the Fo? I know it's available but having trouble finding it on the phone.

I gave you my reason for not posting the answer.

Furthermore, I'm pretty sure I've revealed a fair number of the deals over the past 12+ months, and your lack of acknowledgement/respect for that, is rather disappointing - if I'm hinting at something, it's for a good reason, not because I want to play silly games with you all. If you think I'm wasting your time, then hide my future posts: click my name and then the "add to ignore list" link.

Cheers :)
Just nabbed myself a case.
That one click buy thing is worse than Amazon :p

I'm on the fence re this - on one hand great reviews for previous vintages. On the other - they all had some years of bottle age. I'm a bit wary of buying really young 'premium' stuff. Other people's thoughts on this?

They aren't "random".
I get flack on my Forum if I post the deals elsewhere before the paying subscribers get a good chance.
So I can tell you if your guess or pick is obviously wrong to stop wasting time on that option and maybe give a clue.
But I'll stop if you don't like the compromise.

Well said, Bigot,

People will always complain when they don't get given a free ride, I use a few sites and forums to confirm what the secret deals are, some are paid and some are free. I would suggest that instead of people complaining, they also do likewise.

Well, as I read the latest skirmish above, I can't help but hum the Where Is The Love tune in my head...!

So I thought I'd lighten the mood and post the Eat My Hat post many of you were probably expecting. For the new to this thread and for the forgetful (like me), I said I would not buy the following wine after it had been skilfully revealed on here:

Houghton CW Ferguson Cabernet Malbec 2012

I stupidly said I would eat my hat if it turned out to be a good wine. So Katy and AnonymousCoward immediately took up the challenge on this thread, with great confidence! I knew I was in trouble!

Katy, Alzoam, AnonymousCoward and me met for a bite to eat in Sydney yesterday (doing our usual big wine swap). And both Katy and AC bought along a bottle of the Ferguson for me to try. So we shared this fine wine over a lovely meal.

On Cellar Tracker (with a shorter note on Vivino), I have just posted the following tasting note:

2012 Houghton C.W. Ferguson Cabernet Malbec, Australia, Western Australia, South West Australia, Great Southern - CellarTracker

http://www.vivino.com/wines/19082203

"An eat-your-hat 93/100 (3.8/5.0) from me! Why? Well I said I would eat my hat, so to speak, if I liked this wine on the AFF Wine Lovers blog! Which I did. Named in honour of one of the winery's founding winemakers, this Cab Sauv / Malbec (87/13) blend hails from the old degraded granite gravels of the Frankland River. Halliday said it was a 'fragrant and elegant wine' scoring it 96. And so it proved.

The nose wafts rich cherries, blackberries, mulberries, sweet cedar oak, vanilla and a touch of black pepper. The rich, medium-bodied palate follows those flavours, with a lovely lingering rich sweet red and black fruit and light pepper finish. Very nice.

At under $25 a bottle from VinoMofo ($60 Cellar Door), it represents good value. Drinking well now and easily for another 5 years."

Luckily, my good friends only bought the Ferguson and did not bring a hat for me to eat! So here's eating some humble pie instead with this post! Thanks for the wine and the challenge guys.

So Where Is The Love? It's sharing life with good friends over a nice meal with a good bottle of plonk!

My main focus is the premium on the cheap, love the building of a cellar, only problem is I can't wait until ~2020+, arguably ripping my hair out wishing my life away!

My comment was not aimed at your specifically but all of the 'hinting' that goes on. Yes youve posted answers, so have I. That's what the thread is for. We're all here to help each other get good wine and I don't see the point of making it harder.

Ive missed out on wines I've really wanted because of the circular answers and 'do your own search' responses that fill this thread, because I'm too afraid to ask to be pointed to the wine I'm keen on only to be told to work it out myself. To be honest the only wines I've purchased in the last 12 months have been those that one particular member has alerted me to.

I would ask anyway, BC; even if you do get a cryptic or brusque response on the thread likely as not someone will send you a PM with the answer if they don't feel comfortable revealing it publicly.

Is this a BYO in Sydney?! If so whereabouts please?!
