Vinomofo Wine Deals

Sorry I should say non-expert, anecdotal reports!! From RB forum and from a friend who also got some of it. "Big, bold barossa".

It's from McLaren Vale...

From RB Forum member:
"Talk about blowing the barn doors off. This is rich (without being sweet), full bodied, beautiful fine tannins and while it says so on the bottle, and the "after effects" were noticeable, there wasn't as much alcohol heat as I'd expected.

On the nose, it's leather, cloves, the usual McLarevVale stuff, and after a few hours of decanting, strawberries came through strong.

I'm *very* happy with purchase. if you love your big, bold barrossa's - this is going to be in your zone (even though it's McLarenVale)."

I've tried a bottle, but it was with Thai food after a tasting and wasn't paying too much attention other than I enjoyed it and it wasn't amiss with the spicy food, always a good sign of balance in a Shiraz. I bought a second 6-pack to share with a friend.

The 3 Oceans Explorer is back up. I've already got two cases of this so I won't Boom again, but I've convinced the old man he needs some in his cabinet. For $13 a bottle it's an exceptional wine, if you like a more restrained Shiraz that is.

Tried this tonight - it's OK, but I felt it had an astringent/acidic aftertaste that lingers on the palate. Maybe it was the bottle I'm drinking, but I'm not sure I'd recommend it, given the other alternatives out there at this price.

Interesting, I don't remember the acidic after taste. I'll give it another crack over the weekend, I definitely think it could do with a few years, but drinking well now.

I'm yet to hear from the old man what his thoughts were (he probably hasn't even ordered it, I think he still orders his wine by mail order).

Just in case anyone is curious on the 2009 Tahbilk Marsanne. It is stunning, I visited the winery late last year and had a go a this at the cellar door. Stunning! I prefer to drink my Marsanne only slightly chilled as when its too cold it takes away a bit from the peach, lemon and subdues the minerality. Pull the trigger on this one, its amazing! I grabbed a case already and most likely will get more

Tahbilk arrived yesterday. broached a bottle last night.

Nice wine, really enjoyed it. Thank you for the 'heads up'.

I'm not even a big white wine drinker (I prefer big red wines) but the Tahbilk Marsanne's have to be one of Australia's great wine bargains (particularly with a few years on them).

One of the few white wines I'd never pass by an opportunity to taste, value for money off the scale.

Anyone know what this Chardonnay secret deal might be?? $13.50 down from $30 per bottle.

Beefarmer - not sure I understand what you are asking here?
from what I recall, the grammar and syntax plus the spelling mistakes were uncharacteristic daver 6 prose, and I had a chuckle. I could've been wrong as some of MY finest inspiration has come during or after some lovely wine and I thought I could channel something with your writings in that note. Maybe not, maybe so but being a little cryptic as I am, this is my reason. I will have to go back and re-read it unlike some of the slackers who can't be bothered doing a little detective work on a BM special.

As I hit the post quick reply button, I hope I am correct and altzheimers isn't slowly creepin in. I will re-read your comments. Cheers.

Were you drunk?

Nobody here drinks alcohol you know... People who consume alcohol aren't permitted in the state of New South Wales :p :p :p

Ahh. This is much more amusing now :) Sadly, wasn't drinking wine. Over-tired and multitasking fail on my behalf.
