Velocity has a new partnership with Event Cinemas & Village Cinemas. You can earn 1 Velocity point per $1 when booking a "Velocity movie ticket".

Looks like you have to book through Velocity. TBH it seems a bit complicated for the sake of, say, 20 points on a $20 movie ticket.

You do get 1,000 Velocity points and a free small popcorn though with your first cinema visit until 15 July 2026.

Interesting tie up! Is Event still owned by the same parent company as the QT/Rydges etc hotels? If so, I wonder if we'll see some kind of partnership with the hotel loyalty program at some point.

No, you book through event, you just have to enter via the VA portal.

This works exactly the same as the Telstra partnership. However Telstra at least get much cheaper tickets on Thursdays (which is the new release day, so quite useful). VA prices seem to be the same as standard Cinebuzz members.
