Afternoon all,

Been hanging out for one of these for a while and this came across my desk today.

Virgin are running a promotion for Australian Government employees to match existing Qantas Frequent Flyer statuses. Just need to:
  1. Scan a copy of your current QFF membership card or QFF statement
  2. Compose an email from your government email address with 'GOVT - Status Match' and your Velocity number
  3. Send it and you are done.

Cheers!

That's a fantastic offer thanks for posting :)
Will come in handy to a few members here !

I'm having a quiet chuckle at this given a large number of government employees have difficulty sending emails with attachments. Several others on this forum will be familiar with this conundrum.

But this should benefit many people. Unfortunately useless for me as I have already easily re-qualified Virgin Platinum.

Me too, but Shrek dropped back to Gold last year

What I find interesting is that I'm guessing a lot of govt departments do not allow collection of ff points and thus status. I certainly know of f&fs that aren't able to. . So interesting that va know otherwise and are targeting this market. Unless it's govt employees traveling on private trips that accumulate status.

Some govt employees can accrue Status (not usually points) through flying AFAIK

Ok virgin virgin question - do they run by a membership year or do you have gold for 12mths after been granted the status match? if I have a member year is it my member since date on my account details?

Applied with a .edu.au email address. Let's see if they accept it...

Reported by Ausbt that the status match is only for federal govt, not state or local.
I'd have a classic case for them that'd have them scratching their heads! A Federal Gov't representative but employed through a State Gov't.
