Velocity Frequent Flyer Status Match - WOAG

What I find interesting is that I'm guessing a lot of govt departments do not allow collection of ff points and thus status. I certainly know of f&fs that aren't able to. . So interesting that va know otherwise and are targeting this market. Unless it's govt employees traveling on private trips that accumulate status.

Some govt employees can accrue Status (not usually points) through flying AFAIK

This is certainly the case for an agency I know well, no points but SC's are ok

WOAG fares can earn status credits and enjoy status benefits, but do not earn any redeemable miles / points.

WOAG is a federal government policy designed to streamline travel policies and the provision of travel services across departments. However despite the name, the whole of "the government" do not use the WOAG policy / providers.

I applied this morning and was showing as WP a few hours later.

Timely given I'm walking away from trying to maintain status with QF. Might not be able to maintain status with VA but they'll certainly see a greater share of my revenue flights.

EDIT: I have a .gov.au email address.

Sent email this morning just looked at my VA account which is now gold, very quick turnaround. I have a gov.au address.

Afternoon all,

Been hanging out for one of these for a while and this came across my desk today.

Virgin are running a promotion for Australian Government employees to match existing Qantas Frequent Flyer statuses. Just need to:
  1. Scan a copy of your current QFF membership card or QFF statement
  2. Compose an email from your government email address with 'GOVT - Status Match' and your Velocity number
  3. Send it and you are done.

Cheers!

Are you able to provide a high res copy of the flyer? I'd like to read the T&Cs.

Worked for me, sent an email yesterday afternoon and am now Gold Velocity too.

I also have a .gov.au email

I had dropped down to red and am gold again.

One question though. Was matched to gold as well during the great status match a couple of years ago. At the time I opted to HH gold. That has dropped down to silver now. When one drops down with Velocity and attains gold again, do you get another bite at the hotel and car rental benefit, or is that a one off per lifetime bonus?

Based on an account I have seen post this status match I think you will get another bite at the cherry ;)

Mmmm...I do like cherries :)

Logging on to Velocity in the "my benefits" section, I can't see an obvious way to opt-in again. Am I a) just stupid or b) perhaps just need to give it a few more days to filter through?

The account I have seen has gone Plat>Gold<Plat and the Complimentary partner membership is showing as available and when clicked gives the choice of IHG or Hilton.
The account holder has previously had HH Diamond a couple of years ago through VA.
Not sure why your's isn't showing the benefit ?

I'll give it a few days and follow it up if it doesn't fix itself. Thanks for the feedback PF.

Interesting, I thought this might happen eventually.

I work for a wholly owned Government Agency, and they declined my request. Their loss I suppose, after some bad Virgin experiences, I now do most of my flying with Qantas. Was willing to give Virgin another go if they comped me..

Someone with wa.gov.au received the same "we don't love you" email.

Got an email saying "sorry.. only for Fed govt employees". I applied with a .edu.au address.. :(
