Velocity FF - YOU'VE GOT TO BE JOKING!!!!!! [Resolved by VA]

Having read VR's response... (as it was quoted again it caught my attention) I still believe the OP had every right to be upset. In fact I find what was said there faintly irritating.

OK.. so their partner changed the earning table... In what universe is this the customers problem? Sure, we expect people to check that fares ARE mileage earning, whether or not visas are required etc... but the OP DID check.. more than once!

EY is YOUR partner! Pretty clear if you ask me who "owns" the problem...

Ah, now I understand why I'm only gold and not plat...........I'm getting on the wrong cattle car!
Being the Moderator who changed the thread title, I can understand. I really so wanted to put the full "velocity rewards", but that would have made the thread title become rather more ungainly. In reality, I should have used "VA".

In any case, if you were thinking VicRail you should probably join one of these fora:

Vic Rail was also a very good horse trainer and sadly, one of the first human Hendra victims.

If only Red Roo would respond to/explain the loss of arrivals lounge for first and business class passengers into LHR and loss of lounge access for Qantas Club members travelling in economy on BA.

To be fair, the issue in this thread is a lot easier to deal with than the BA lounge issue. This issue can simply be resolved by gratis points totally within the control of DJ, whereas the lounge issue involves an outside party. The time difference alone with the UK adds to the lead time. Plus, as we all know, there are a lot of issues that are commercially sensitive that can't be disclosed on a public forum (at least that's what RR used to say all the time). :)

Good response from VA for sure.

The just-ditched Malaysian Velocity reciprocity just cost me $120 and a l-o-n-g pursuit of a refund for a prebooked fare after VA and MAS severed the FF relationship soon. I booked a J fare to LHR for September specifically to snare the SC and FF points.
I booked 5 flights bet Syd and Kul on MH a few months ago for July this year; the availability of family pooling with Velocity was a major factor in booking MH over SQ, which surprisingly was a bit cheaper. The severance of thr r'ship bet MH and the Velocity program will cost me a lot of Velocity pts and important SCs in my pursuit of Velocity Plat requalification :(. Be interesting to hear VA's response to my plight....unfortunately, my flights have a cancellation fee of $165 per ticket!

I too had booked three seperate tickets for myself and one other on Malaysian for the sole purpose of accruing status credits and points. Whilst I was expecting a termination of the agreement in the near future, I thought at the very least Virgin would honour bookings made prior to the announcement of the severance of the agreement.

Have sent an email to Virgin detailing the $600 USD ($100 per ticket) it cost to cancel the tickets. They were all Business class specials...

Velocity Rewards no longer exists, it has been Velocity Frequent Flyer for some time now (the velocity rep's name also was changed to reflect this)

I too made a simlar booking choice of Malayasian over Singapore despite Malaysian being a bit more expensive and was surprised that Virgin were not offering a period that they would honour previously made bookings. Unfortunately for me the cancellation fee is more than the cost difference.

I repeat what I mentioned last week..."Domestic flying has finally become enjoyable"..Of course thanks for VA

There may well be an issue in how VA would find out you had flown on MH. One would imagine that MH will stop sending the info (and a cheque) across to VA.

And the trainer of the champion Vo Rogue. I will never forget that horse and used to watch replays on Youtube regularly until they got taken off the website.

And one of the best calls ever was the Dandy Andy upset in the Australia Cup. Not good for the horse and trainer but another great call by Bill Collins.

For those with MH bookings that can't/won't cancel, is crediting to QF an option?

So has this outcome changed your mind about avoiding VA and their parter airlines in future? I'd certainly hope so, that service/response from VA was top notch and downright impressive.

Think of the poor saps who have had the same and no knowledge of AFF. A bit of cheap PR for VA considering some threads of late haven't been so complimentary of VA.

While excellent to see a positive response, let's not overstate it, the OP had booked something and was expecting something in his velocity account, it didn't happen and VA has now agreed as a goodwill gesture to correct the problem caused by their partner airline.
