Yes, especially if you fly in J! My recent trip to Brisbane was under $800 inclusive of one night's stay at a 4* hotel. Earnt 160 SC which would have cost me $1920 under the current earn rate, plus let's say $250-$300 for a nice hotel room.IMHO the only VA DSC offers worth using these days are the VA Holidays ones.
Maybe they don't want to thin out the elites. I don't think anyone at Virgin has ever said that's something they're looking to do. We're all just assuming it.Why are they offering these almost useless DSC offers when they want to thin out the elites???
Likely an end of year financial year sales boostWhy are they offering these almost useless DSC offers when they want to thin out the elites???
$$$$ DSC are revenue generating exercises. Why are they offering these almost useless DSC offers when they want to thin out the elites???
The business flyer one in Jan-March this year is also good value too, provided the travel window suits.IMHO the only VA DSC offers worth using these days are the VA Holidays ones.

Absolutely, I booked Melbourne to Sunny Coast for later this year on DSC (VA Holidays), J in both directions, with family pooling.IMHO the only VA DSC offers worth using these days are the VA Holidays ones.

Perhaps that's why he's the former CEO. There may also have been some unintended consequences, and from my recent experience, I haven't noticed any reduction in the crowdedness of lounges.Velocity’s former CEO explicitly told me that one of the reasons for the status changes was to reduce lounge overcrowding.
This promo is 100% aimed at addressing weak forward bookings for VA over the next month. I don’t think there’s any long-term strategy behind it in terms of the Velocity program. (If anything, having such regular DSC offers just undermines both VA and the Velocity program in the longer term.)
What times do you normally fly, peak? I don't know if it's just me, but I do feel there is a slight drop in crowding during peak. Particularly in SYD and MEL. I find it relatively easy to get a seat now, which I like.Perhaps that's why he's the former CEO. The short window suggests that it's the business traveller in their sights (and I have heard that such travel has fallen after their changes)
The OOL lounge was very crowded last week (when I entered, they said "standing room only" - luckily, I was able to get one of the remaining seats).Perhaps that's why he's the former CEO. I'm not surprised (I'm not being rude, just agreeing with you). The short window suggests that it's the business traveller in their sights (and I have heard that such travel has fallen after their changes)
Whilst I'm not a business traveller, my travel is all personal, I am definitely one of those who have moved on. Previously, I flew almost exclusively with VA. Now, they barely get a look in*. They didn't need to go as far as they did. They may be beginning to realise what they lost. The business travellers they have lost due to the changes have already moved on IMHO and are not going to return to Velocity just for this.
