It’s been quite a while since an offer.I will do some SC run digging and will post anything worthwhile in the SC thread.

This is a 4 week offer so might be wise waiting for a sale.

Book a flight between Australia and New Zealand with Virgin Australia before 14 December 2018 and you’ll receive double Status Credits*.
Offer available for travel between 26 November 2018 and 9 October 2019. You must activate before booking.

Silly question, but do you have to book direct with Virgin or can they booked through a third party agent or website?

Thanks so much for this, long time lurker literally signed up to say thanks! Flying MCY to AKL via MEL in J works out to a staggering 560 SC's for only approximately $1,600, roughly $3 per SC! Now I'll easily hit Platinum by Christmas. Assuming MCY to MEL leg is counted as part of the double SC offer.

I was planning a trip next year Sydney to North Island anyway. If anyone has any great status run finds or creative ways to book multi leg flights I would be most grateful as I need over 150 credits before June to maintain gold.

HI thanks for posting this has anyone got good status run I can do this promotion period to maximise status credit as I need around 655SC by June next year to maintain Platinum Status
Thanks in advance

But surely one ends up in NZ.

I first went there in 1970, when the fush-n-chup speech wasn't noticeable anywhere and the locals didn't hate Australians.

My next trip there was in 2000, and the dislike/hatred was very much evident; now an Australian cricket or Rugby Union or Rugby League team is booed from the time they arrive until the moment they leave the place. I won't go there again because of their antipathy.

Fortunately Qantas flies from SYD direct to Chile four times a week. The Australian pax on LATAM are probably stoned, in the original sense, as they try to pass through AKL airport, trying desperately hard to avoid saying thrash, fetch, and of course fish to avoid recrumunations.

Slightly extreme views but whatever floats your boat.

I would say no to the MCY MEL leg

My gut is they won't count. Given the goal is to encourage bookings, I would assume they'd trumpet it if the double SCs counted for onward or prior flights.

I agree it won't count. Only a small chance it could accidentally apply if Virgin's IT isn't up to the task of differentiating between them, but it probably is.

Bloody hell I got excited thinking I could do a quick trip over including the stopover from SYD to MEL and get double credits for all 4 flights. If it seems too good to be true...

Do the connecting domestic flights still post using the international earn table? - if so, there is a small change the system will see the whole ticket as short haul international and post the double SC's (unless the logic only allow it based on origin and destination).

From the Velocity website...
From 1 August 2018 for travel on or after 28 October 2018 domestic flights flown as part of a;
Trans Tasman or International Short Haul journey will earn at the same rate as domestic standalone journeys.
International long haul flights will earn based on the fare class and number of miles flown.

Remember their is now a dedicated Short Haul / TT earn table which is separate from International and Domestic.

If you can find a flight that falls under zone 3 that could be a very good status run. There are many good J fares for around $500 - $600 that fall under zone 2. A return in J from BNE, SYD, MEL could get you 320 SC.

I can see some $450-$500 fares outbound to CHC and as low as $440 for the return leg.
