I'm looking to make some purchases in France but departing the EU, I'll be going via HEL. CDG-HEL-HKG. From my reading, I'm suppose to claim at my last port e.g. HEL. How would that work if I'm in transit? Do I have to leave airside to process my claim? I'm aware that there will be schengen/non-schengen border control at HEL, is there where I would have the claim processed?

There should be an office airside to stamp your paperwork. I’ve done that there in the past but many moons ago.

We returned FCO-CPH-SIN-BNE (transit in CPH for 90 minutes) in 2022 with Mrs NoName claiming the VAT refund for a handbag she bought in Paris. She was able to claim in FCO. Not sure if it would make a difference but for reference it was all on the one SQ ticket and SQ flight number was the same for FCO-CPH-SIN.
