VA & BP big announcment?

Mrs excel received the same offer as mentioned above - not enough to change my spending patterns for.

I got the 3,4,5 offer again. The points came in eventually last time and after a couple of small fills to start with I did plenty of driving that month and got decent tanks for the three better offers. My driving has been reduced lately - fuelled up for the first time in about a month last week. Not sure it's worth doing all that driving just to get the points! In fact I know it isn't.
I don't think I ever got the Ultimate bonus either.

Good to combine with the Amex offers.

And Amex local champion might stack too with multiple smaller spends

Sadly, I don't need to worry about smaller spends! I am 1 and 2 transactions off earning at my two most frequented places despite being interstate the last week and have 300kms to drive tomorrow.
3 transactions off my local Dan murphy's too, but perhaps I should keep that quiet!

My question regarding "purchase in store only": Does fuel count?

I read that as instore, as opposed to online (not sure what BP sells online though)
I'm not sure whether AMEX can tell what you've purchased? ie fuel or The Age? Am sure they have the big data, but suspect the won't be using it for a promotion like this

Just got advised (via AwardWallet) that VA had incresed my FF points balance by 300:

Received on 2 of our accounts too

Just saw mine had turned up too. Not bad for about $5 invested.

No bonus points for me. Think I should have received 2 lots of bonus points but nothing so far. Now to try and remember the promotion and follow up.

Why is it so difficult to receive what is owed without follow up?

AAARGGH, my wife drove up to Toowoomba for the weekend and filled up at Caltex near home on her way back this morning  - blasting my nicely laid plans as I usually fill up for her on a Wednesday night :(

That'll put one card in doubt for the 4x, we'll still get the 3x - I'll have to send her out in the car to get the fuel used...

Starts next week: new 'Pay with Points' scheme sees 1,667 Velocity Points = $10 off BP fuel or in-store purchases.

I think this will appeal to the "points for toasters " type person.

At least for the once a year flyer who has some sort of point balance, it offers a practical use

Right on the money imho...just wrote this on ausbt

"Seems like a good way for Virgin to get people burning points on other products and keeping the spending away from their flight operations.
Tactically smart on their part, and only the naive will be affected..
Those with foresight will not be taken in by this program in my opinion."
