This is what you get on the payment terminal, so $0.006 per point.

Funny, I was just thinking the other day...how long will it take before we need to swipe a 3rd card when making a purchase?

Seems instead now we will have to wait for system to suggest an additional button press for a choice we didn't ask for.

Technology, making life simpler ;-) LoLz

They must have worked out a business case that getting people to redeem for peanuts is better than leaving people with small balances to never redeem at all

Just a reminder (not sure if midnight tonight is the end, or it was midnight last night

Well surely I'm not the only lucky person?

Looking at my fills (2 cars, 2 cards and 5 fills so far), I have been able to piggyback the $10 rebate for all so far. Will get triple on the 100 point transaction [our family car] but I'll miss out on the second card attached to my work car as I haven't been driving anywhere.

Well there's the worst use of points I'll never use. To get $10 off a tank of fuel you are better off just waiting a few days and it will be cheaper.

What I hope is that I don't get asked if I want to waste my points every single time I fuel up. That is, an extra stage in the paying process. By that photo it looks like it's easier and more natural to just go 'ok' rather than 'clr' if you are not thinking clearly (which is usually my state after being exposed to petrol fumes).

That's what I thought as well. I wonder how many points Velocity will get off their books at that bargain price simply by people accidentally clicking 'OK'? I'll have to be sure to educate the missus on that one.

And what happens if there's a break in communication or the wrong button has been pressed and your points deducted?

I would rather this option was not there as it is prone to errors. Just want to swipe card and earn Velocity points not spend Velocity points.

I personally think it's a good initiative. There would be lots of people who have small points balances who would be happy to pocket $10 every now and again. There aren't really any other practical ways of burning low levels of points that immediately come to mind.

And I'm quite happy for VAs coffers to be filled this way (by other people)

My thoughts as well - neither OH or I want to use our Velocity points at BP (just earn them!) but the way the system is set up, it does seem it would be all too easy to press "OK" if you weren't concentrating (in a rush getting to work, or heading home after a hectic day at work or whatever). If that happens, and you do press OK by accident, I wonder if that selection can then be cancelled by the operator? From the demo on 7 News last night, it appears it then asks you for your PIN, so there is another step before the points are used, but can you stop the process if selected accidentally? Wonder how many times the payment queue will be held up by people who do accidentally select OK (as we're all so used to doing almost automatically these days) and then going oh cr*p, sorry, didn't mean to do that, no don't want to use my points etc etc ...
