AAA rate

What is this actually? Does it apply to anyone who is just a member of a motoring body in their state which is a AAA affiliate? Ie, RAC member in WA?

Or is this some other secret society with a cool handshake? :)

Re: AAA rate

Absolutely right- AAA affiliate. If you have a card for a motoring body, look at the back of it and there should be a AAA logo, along with a 3 digit number. This is the number you use for the AAA rate.
That said, HH IT doesn't work and the RACWA number is not valid on the website (but still eligible). Have a look on here for a number that works (NRMA I think?) and just show your own card.

Re: AAA rate

Thanks Cynicor for the quick answer :)

Not currently RACWA member, but I could see how it would quickly pay for itself.

One other question. Does the AAA rate apply worldwide or Australia only?

Given you get discounted Wish cards and membership is $29, it pays for itself very quickly!

Re: AAA rate

RAC WA international club code is 397. It's valid wherever the AAA rate is offered as an option.

Re: AAA rate

I have been meaning to ring RACV regarding the above, the CSR did not know anything about an AAA rate code .... and no not into the Wish Cards either so will look at the RACWA affiliate membership I think

Just had a call back and there is a code for RACV AAA and it is 448........but still no luck on the Wish Card discount program

I have 448 on the back of my card. In the past I have also used the 16 digit code on the front.

Re: AAA rate

RACQ 310 works. I note Princess Fiona also uses that so I'm not sure if it's solely QLD.

OT, but I'm an RACQ Gold member, which is worth far more than most gold memberships (in nose in the air status only) as it's the only Gold card I know that genuinely reconises loyalty. Unlike the "flash in the pan" golds that can be had for fifty bucks, RACQ gold can only be earned after 25 continuous years of membership. I joined in '88 so I'm only half way there to the top tier of Gold 50+.................(I think optimism is a great thing, but I think I may see the inside of a gold coffin before gold 50+ ;)). This could raise a whole new topic of what is real loyalty gold as opposed to fools loyalty gold  :D.

:.

I think it is only RACQ, I'm with the NRMA but I've got no clue what that code is.
In a ton of stays in US/Europe/AU I've never once been asked for my card ;)

Re: AAA rate

Do NRMA not have an AAA logo on the reverse of the card with a club code printed under it?

Mine does but as reported numerous times on here, the club code no longer works on Hilton - have to use the 15 digit code (hence I think some people getting confused!)

Don't think I've ever looked at or seen the card, it's part of my car leasing arrangements
OT but to be honest I'm usually on the Govt rate and use AAA when that is too expensive or states "Federal Employees".
The only time I recall being asked for credentials for anything was at the Hampton Inn in SJU when the front desk wanted my "MVP" card :D

Re: AAA rate

Otherwise 310 works just fine and I've used it several times now without being asked to show my card (which I do always carry "just in case"!).

RACV's 448 wouldn't work for me today so I just used 310.

Re: AAA rate

FWIW RAC WAs code is 397, their cards dont have an expiry date.

Ditto, only place I've been asked to see it was PER funnily enough

They do however count membership of interstate motoring bodies so I am only 7 years from my RACQ Gold 50+ card.

Now to the benefits of AAA affiliation. It isn't just hotels. Can be restaurants eg hard Rock cafes 10% off.Can be shopping eg Gap outlets 10% extra off,Reebok and Rockport outlets a further 30% off.

As motor vehicles and I rarely coexist harmoniously and motor mechanics is a dark art as far as I'm concerned, the most important aspect of AAA membership to me is the most fundamental.......breakdown service!
