VA has launched a new promo offering bonus Velocity points on bookings from Australia to Hong Kong, Tokyo, Los Angeles or London.

  • 20,000 bonus points on return Business class bookings (10,000 points for one-way)
  • 12,000 bonus points on return Premium Economy bookings (6,000 points for one-way; applicable only to LAX)
  • 10,000 bonus points on return Economy Freedom bookings (5,000 points for one-way)
  • 5,000 bonus points on return Economy Getaway/Elevate bookings (2,500 points for one-way)
You have to activate the offer on the Velocity website (link below) to get the bonus points. Book by 9 February 2020, travel between 20 January 2020 and 15 December 2020.

As a side note, I wonder if we'll see a new double status credits offer in mid-February, after this offer expires?

Not quite as generous as the offer last year for USA flights which was 10,000 bonus points for a return economy booking regardless of fare class.

Still good to see an offer like this again especially with it being expanded to LHR/HKG/HND. I'll hold off for a double SC offer however - fingers crossed we see one in February and/or May.

I also have couple of bookings to be made , however the destinations are either domestic or not covered as part of this promo. Wonder why other destinations in Asia are not included.

Virgin actually fly their own aircraft to the included Asian destinations. I'd say that has something to do with it.
London is the odd one out.

Kind of inclined towards that however VA fly their own to LA as well ... so not sure if there is any logic behind the destinations they include.

And LA is included in the promo.
You did ask why other Asian destinations are not included.
Aside from London all included destinations are places Virgin fly to. I think that explains why other asian destinations are not included.

Also, based on my reading of the terms, LHR only counts if booked through LAX or HKG, which suggests to me they're encouraging the use of VS (or DL if they fly LAX-LHR) metal.
