Unable to link Complimentary lounge Invitation

Just had a long dance with the call centre. I've been told by two different people that the Perth International Lounge is still "not accepting lounge passes due to COVID restrictions"! Can't link to the Perth QC either if your outbound flight is an international flight.

Hilariously enough, I can link to the Perth QC if my outbound is a domestic flight. So "COVID restrictions" only apply to the Perth International Lounge 🤣

I suspect Qantas has decided that the Perth International Lounge will no longer take passes - whether this is an IT problem or not I have no idea.

Had the same issue.

Reasons I was given were the Lounge has only just reopened, capacity limits, owners of lounge temporarily decided to halt the use of lounge invitations.

Yeah, which is a bit unfortunate. I do wish that there was a way to link to the T4 QC instead as an alternative, but oh well 🤷

I can't believe they're still trotting out the COVID restrictions excuse - they gave me the same line back in November last year. Qantas - consistency where it matters!

In the end no matter whatever ridiculous reason they've trotted out there's no acceptable justification as to why Perth has to remain unique for Qantas amongst all airports in Australia in denying lounge pass holders their ability to use said pass before international flights. 😠

Again, ridiculous excuses by Qantas. 1) it must have been reopened for almost a year now. 2) Capacity limits is a reason potentially to turn some lounge pass holders away if at capacity but not as a blanket rule (surely they can adopt whatever rule the other Qantas lounges use for when they're at or near capacity). 3) Well that's just completely arbitrary but unfortunately also the one that makes most sense! To my knowledge though the lounge has never accepted passes so I don't think they should label it as temporary! 🤔

Hi All,

Have an upcoming booking in Y from LHR to Australia. Recently my qantas club membership expired (april 2023).

When I try linking the lounge invite to the heathrow lounge it just says "already has access". I've also tried ia incognito with no luck.

I've double checked, on desktop on my account it no longer states I'm qantas club and also doesn't have it on my mobile app, nor have I renewed my QC membership.

Tried calling the call center 2 once got through to frequent flyer who said they can't do anything other than submit a customer care form (which can take a few days and the flights this week).

Anyone know if there's a workaround it'd be appreciated thanks!

I haven't heard of this issue before but I am well beyond being surprised by Qantas IT issues. When I have had issues linking lounge passes I find if you ring at 7am Sydney time you might get lucky in being able to speak with someone who takes the problem seriously.

Gave this a go yesterday with no success but will try again today.

Initially agent told me I can't use the lounge pass to enter partner lounges. Had to remind them that it was a qantas lounge invitation that I want to link to a qantas lounge... Apparently qantas lounges are now "partner airline lounges"😂

Just an update to my lounge pass saga.

Had to update some information yesterday under "my profile". Magically after I did that it let me link the passes which is good.

Despite that I got a voicemail today from Qantas letting me know the reason I can't link the passes is because I've requested a points upgrade on my flight, not really sure what the two have to do with each other as the upgrade hasn't been confirmed yet.

So I am having problem linking complementary pass for London heathrow in 3 days time. QF2 so its a Qantas flight. Every time I try I get "Something went wrong. Please try again later".
Been like that for days.
Flight is on a Thurday, its not a holiday, its not a long weekend.
What is going on? I have never got this to work.
At least give better feedback message eg: "Lounge is full on that day" or something.
Any ideas how I can get this resolved?

Can you conform what you had to update? In case it resolves my issues.

Ended up just updating my address under my profile.

Tried that but made no difference.
Maybe the Qantas lounge at LHR doesnt accept passes but if not why doesnt it say so?
that would stop me wasting a lot of time.
I have tried 3 times a day for 4 days and always get "Something went wrong. Please try again later".
Flight is 30 hours away now so soon going to be too late anyway.
Seems these passes are pretty useless as far as I can see.
Thanks Qantas (not)

Going back a couple of years I constantly had the same problem, and got around it by showing the rejection email to the lounge staff and explaining the issue, and was always allowed in...

That said, nobody should have to suffer the intricacies of the QF system for such a basic entitlement...

Update. Currently sitting in the Qantas LHR lounge.
Rocked up with a printout of the web page showing I had tried to link the flight.
Guy on the desk was really helpful and says it happens all the time.
As long as they can see you have an invitation (screen shot) they let you in and send a message to Oz to deduct one.
So the IT system is junk but the human wetware works well.
Hope this helps others.
Sitting back with a Pinot Grigio to wait 4 hours for QF2 home.

Says it all really - Qantas know the IT doesn't work properly and do bugger all to fix it. Glad you got in.

Thanks a lot for posting the update and welcome to AFF. Glad it worked out and you got to enjoy the lounge. Hope your flight is comfortable!

I've just been gifted two complimentary lounge invitations but get the same "You’re unable to redeem a Lounge Invitation on this occasion."

Under "Manage your Complimentary Lounge Invitations" I click on "Link Invitation" for a flight on 7th July departing Sydney and also one in March 2024 departing Bangkok but for both times after clicking on it I get a message saying "You’re unable to redeem a Lounge Invitation on this occasion." Anyone know how I can get this to work? Thanks

The rules governing the use of these invitations has been fully covered in this thread.

I echo scuubaal above. Had the same issue recently where any attempt to link my lounge pass to my booking was net with a "something went wrong. Please try again later" error, so I could not link my pass to my booking.

Walked into the international J lounge in Melbourne and I explained the IT issue I was getting.
I had a screenshot on my phone of the error ready to show them and a screenshot of my lounge pass, but it seems like such a common issue that the person at the front desk never even asked to see them.

They just looked up my QFF account and pull the pass manually. Said it happens all the time.

The passes I were given on this forum, the person said "You have to link them your booking before 2 July, even if the travel is after that."

If I did the same as you and Scuubaal by printing / screenshotting would they also accept it? Because I'm guessing they would disappear after 2nd July from the system and my flight is on the 7th July.
