ICN-SYD is TW's first international long-haul route. Probably the definition of 'long haul' is anything above seven and a half or eight hours, so this route ticks that box.

I'd never heard of this airline before seeing an article about it a short while back, but it has a fairly lengthy history including under the name of Hansung Airlines until 2010. Shows how much I know!

It's operating four days a week on this increasingly popular route, more than JQi (although not more than combined JQi/QFi, KE or OZm, all of which have a daily service if one adds the Qantas/Jetstar offerings of four and three days a week respectively together, although the latter two don't have any departures from Sydney on Mondays, with one each on Sundays). Like Taiwan, I can attest subjectively to how South Korea is an enjoyable place to visit for a holiday.

On Christmas Day 2022, TW502, the 1215 hours SYD-ICN (A333 HL8500) took off at 1501. Expected at gate arrival changes to 2243 hours, 98 minutes late.
