Qantas and Jetstar put out media releases this morning about their tourism recovery sales launching today.

Qantas is offering triple frequent flyer points on all domestic flights until 24 June, for travel between 27 June and 31 October 2020.

Qantas is offering its 13 million frequent flyers triple points on all flights nationwide across 92 routes and 57 destinations from 27 June until 31 October 2020. The triple point sale is available on qantas.com now and runs until 24 June 2020.

(It's not quite double status credits, but if you're thinking about booking a trip to Ballina, you can now get double status credits on SYD-BNK flights!)

I can't (yet) see a link to register for the offer even though it is meant to begin today. Maybe it is linked to GMT time where it isn't quite 12am yet?

EDIT: It showed up on Qantas' front page just after 9.30

Aaaagh one of the states I want to visit is STILL fussing around with when they will open the borders.....

But good to see bookings are strong based on the comment they have had to add extra flights in response to demand on top of their previously announced schedule.

It is also a clever political move as well to help pressure the states into border submission... - its almost like they are working hand in glove with Scomo ;) :p

Well the reason, I suspect, 20 July was selected was because it gives airlines 4 weeks to gear up the logistics necessary to commence multiple services ......

Anyhow did a couple of dummy bookings Adel to Perth to checkout fare pricing knowing I bought a tic in Feb for $180 approx one way...

Atypical of QF, IMMEDIATE pricing is ..... the usual higher $323...

As for down the track... November there’s an Australia v Afghanistan Test cricket match scheduled. Pricing is a more modest $226

PS The premier of South Australia, Steven Marshall, has announced Queensland visitors will no longer have to go into quarantine if travelling to SA

Interesting that Qantas has chosen double points rather than double status credits. An optimistic viewpoint is that they don't want to skew the status credit earning in the event there is some further status extension or lowering of requal levels.

Spin city! Great if you can drop everything and book between the 19th June and 24th June, and you are betting on various states lifting their travel restrictions or some other second wave not blowing your travel plans out of the water. And increased point earn rather than a status credit benefit? Whats the point? A couple of good credit card churns are cheaper and more effective way to collect points. Its not as if these are particularly cheap fares in a historical context anyway. You won't be able to confidently use those QFF points to book to fly internationallyas reward seats will be as rare as hens teeth due to Qantas retireing/parking at least half of their international fleet - if QF ever does flying internationally that is....
