Travel agent gone AWOL

Just watching this thread - for complaints or MIA travel agents or tour operators, can one not contact the Australian Travel Industry Association (ATIA) of the Australian Travel Accreditation Scheme (ATAS)?

Only if the said travel agent was a member. It’s been a few years since this was compulsory and travellers had the compensation scheme as a fall back. Booking through a non accredited travel agent is basically free falling, there is no safety net.

It's interesting then that AFF is a promoter of non credentialled advisers then.

Because over the years he has been of great help to many of us on here.
And we seem. to have forgotten how he helped many people to return home during COVID lockdowns.

No they don’t, AFF has always had a non compulsion policy when it comes to getting answers on threads. No member has the right to demand an answer.

I get the long relationship you have experienced with the TA. And as I have no knowledge of what happened with the COVID repats, I havent forgotten those, I never knew of it. So I'm not factoring into my comments. And shouldn't.

So. I'm looking at this purely at face value.

I'll hazard a guess the OP begs to differ. I'd want/demand an answer from my agent if I was in OPs position. Of course it doesn't have to be here on AFF, that would only be for our benefit. But the longer the OP goes without a reasonable response from the agent, and the longer this thread goes on, the more reputational damage is incurred.

A second, uninvolved TA reports that their QF agency assisted is ‘investigating’. No response from QFF. Have submitted refund request to agency assist email with a form response saying it will take them 21 days to response. No response to QF customer care complaint. No response from original TA to follow up emails and calls over last 48 hours. What a nightmare over what could and should be a single phone call and email.

They do to save their reputation as an agent. Of course it is their own choice (assuming they are fit and well)

Yes but the point is that AFF cannot compel anyone to post or respond - irrespective of the nature of the issue.
Not sure anyone here is asking AFF to compel the agent to respond here. They've been asked to reach out to the agent on behalf of the OP. A reasonable request as they have some kind of a commercial arrangement so presumably have a line of contact. The point of this thread is to help the OP and the agent connect, and AFF are in a better position than most to do that. They don't have to, of course, just as the agent doesn't have to respond here or even directly to the OP. But it's not a good look for either if they just ignore or abandon the poor bloke.
