If you are off the Kimberley coast on that day, you may get 5 minutes of total eclipse.

Thread 'Made any travel mistakes lately?'

On a train going out to Western Sydney I am sitting on a seat from hell it is so hard.
I thought about my most recent mistake of booking Novotel Brisbane Airport only to find it was not really at the airport and wondered if others have mistakes they would like to share.
Fortunately the train is an express ride to my destination!

It’s supposed to be close to 4 mins totality over Sydney (first total eclipse since 1857). So a zero $ uplift works for me. Just pray it doesn’t rain!

July up there virtually no chance of rain. And, going back to the cruise, they could manoeuvre to try to get clear skies. I've done that Kimberly cruise otherwise I'd look closely at it (assuming I'm correct - but what else is the vessel going to do between other Kimberly cruises)?

Actually, the T1 QF lounges could be prime viewing locations on the 22nd! Hmm?

Probably not as the FLounge faces slightly NE.

The dead centre of the lounge faces NE. Far right almost E and far left almost N. BUT, one can turn their head and face NW.

Probably decent viewing similar to watching planes on approach/landing on 16R.

This photo was coincidently taken around midday on 23 July 2024(!) facing NNE (CBD in the background). But it was easy to see more towards the west. When happily enjoying a meal.


But I won’t be there (unless some amazing airfare pops up), but it could be a hoot for those who happen to have a ring side seat.

Who knows what happens to aircraft ops during a total eclipse?

Anyway, we’ll probably wonder down to Centennial Park to observe the surreal behaviour of the birds and humans.
