Topguest suspending accounts

The guy clearly has no idea how 4square works. I tried a non-advertised check in and 4 square came back straight away and said it'd count for nothing. So at the very least all my Facebook friends have to see my check ins. Which makes 4 square friends somewhat irrelevant.

Still I just sent some friend requests.

I was connected by FB and 4square, but I found the 4square app a much simpler app to checkin.
These guys at Topguest don't realise what damage they have done to their brand.
I guess the biggest losers will be 4square, as I will probably not using that app again.

I found this thread via Google. I got an email today from Topguest threatening to suspend my account since I was "using it too much". I travel a lot for work, like I'm sure many of you do, and was appalled I would be punished for using it correctly. I've left them a review on Yelp, which I'm not allowed to link to since I'm new :( Sorry!

Has anyone successfully gone to bat against them? Its such a small amount of points, it's not really worth it to me...... :/ Plus I saw this article and it seems if you try to appeal you get banned for questioning them. Again, can't link to it. Yet......

I believe some people have been able to explain their situation and successfully argued for the suspension to be lifted.

If you think your activity is genuine I'd be emailing back explaining your work/play pattern and asking which parts of your posting are excessive.

I did actually and they just responded that no one travels that much. I wasn't even using it daily. I don't know what the issue is, but Celeste is pretty rude :(

Is this your review?
Topguest - Financial District - San Francisco, CA

I got suspended after an actual visit. I could send in scans of my bookings and even the pictures I took while staying at the hotel and email their ceo. Technically you don't really need to stay at a Hotel, you for example could go in for a coffee or sandwich.
Trying emailing the CEO for a response.

Yes, that's me. I added them to Yelp to review them.

Good idea, thanks, and yes, good point. I think any visit should count, as hotels host conferences all the time, etc.

Well i got a warning email this morning:

Hi nlagalle, We noticed you're a big user of Topguest (great) but that you seem to be using the service in ways that violate our Terms of Service (less great). Specifically, we have noticed over time that you seem to be checking in to our partner venues in a way that is not in the spirit of the Topguest program and in breach of Section (1) (c) of our TOS.

Interesting as they don't really say what you are/aren't doing.

Yeah, I told them I could show receipts, etc, as well. I left them a review on Yelp and they apparently have a history of harassing "power users". Too bad :(

No, they threatened and after some back and forth I told them to go ahead and close my account. They aren't a company worth dealing with, esp. for 25 points a check in.
