TomCat's new digs!

Did you get any of those dwarf peaches/nectarines? I'm in the middle of this year's harvest of lots & lots from my little trees :)

I have one of these trees and have had a lot of fruit. Nectarines have been fine, but the peaches have been a bit “floury”. Do you have any tips??

No, my existing garden has kept me busy enough.
We had quite a few apricots for the first time which was lovely, and I'm just waiting for the figs to ripen now.

No, except use as big a pot as you can and keep them well watered.
Thanks, mine is in the ground not a pot. This summer I didn’t even try to keep it well watered due to water restrictions and previous poor performance. I’ll try again next summer!
When I had previously googled the peach problem there were a lot of online comments of “floury” fruit, so it’s good to know that it’s not always the case.

I find what with water restrictions and expensive water, that grey water from the sink, laundry and shower really helps.

This week's mission is to make over our front lounge room. Its a bit of a no-mans land; right inside the front door, but we never sit in there and it ends up being a bit of a dumping ground. There are boxes from when we moved in.... I hate the black leather couch (a hand me down) and it makes the room so dark. So I've ordered new furniture! I collected the arm chair this morning, and the new sofa arrives Tuesday. Just need a coffee table and lamp now to finish it off.

Well done on getting new lounge furniture. We've been in our first home together (and probably last) for 20 years now and we're still got my parents couch and 2 arm chairs and most of the other furniture in the room is from my husband's family plus a tv unit we bought on gumtree. I wanted to get a new lounge suite for our 20th wedding anniversary but other stuff got in the way and now we're worried about our financial future due to world events. I can't see the instagram post as my husband has blocked instagram, facebook, twitter and a couple of other social media sites on our home network. We did get some new furniture when we got married and shortly after like our queen bed and our long dining room table and chairs but we believe in re-using stuff so we don't always buy new.

I've always had second hand couches, even with I still lived at home. We got my grandma's old couch twice. Then mum finally got a new one, which I ended up with. When it wore out I was given the black one. It did the job but I hate it. Hate leather, hate black. I'm a bit excited to get something new, and we've done well on a tight budget.

I'm not great either which is why the room has taken so long.

We've also put in a bird bath, out of reach of the dogs. We get quite a few different birds visiting now (including Indian mynas which we've been trapping)

This is the offending couch. We've already got a new owner lined up for it.

Hmm, that colud be a feature in our back yard as well. I love the look and colour. Must go and invesigate. From where did you procure it?

By memory you went with slightly smaller design to get more green space. Thats going to come in handy now. having that buffer between your back door and the back fence is well worth it.
