TomCat's new digs!

I'll have to eat my words...the render is staying. While the suggestion I made is feasible it would also be at our expense and we don't want to spend several thousand we didn't budget for. So we'll be chasing a refund for the bricks that we paid extra for. Once the front door is painted I think we can live with it.

She looks like a House now!

Internal painting is complete. Tiling starts tomorrow.

Upper down pipes are in place, lower portion will be connected once the bricks have been cleaned.

They're expecting to present the completed house to us on September 11.

Not what you wanted to hear. :(
It's funny but I think you probably will end up forgetting the render (or at least getting used to it) and there are so many other great things to take up your attention as you make the house your home. :) And as you say when the front door is painted it will be OK.
Not what you wanted but I can see that if the cost of remediation is to be borne by you it makes it a bit hard when it wasn't a budgeted amount.
It is looking wonderful - you must be so pleased.
The11th is only a few weeks - wow

PS I wondered about that downpipe:p

Under a month away!
Did they say why you would have to pay for the changes?

Once you get everything done hopefully that will disappear into the background. At the moment it’s obvious but get the garden happening, furniture etc etc and it might just fade into history.

Because the plan shows the side of the portico as rendered, so it’s technically correct, and to change that would be at our cost. They were willing to rebrick the front at their expense but that would look silly. I think with the scaffolding gone it already looks better, then with the door, garden etc it will blend better.

Good attitude. Move on and enjoy anticipating your brand new house!

From a distance it's hard to see what they've done to the front entrance so I went back and looked at a couple of photos of your house and the display house. The most obvious thing from the long shot is the rendered step rather than the brick step at the front door. Walking up close you would see other differences. Good luck with getting your refund.

They rendered above, below and to the right of the door. Which is not what we wanted, nor what was presented to us in the image on their website.

Portal update. Ignoring that the fitoff dates are a bit backward, the fact the site clean is scheduled is exciting. The tentative presentation date of 11/9 is also in the calendar.

Getting even more exciting....if that is possible :p

I think I'm bypassing excitement for terrified. There's so much to do once its handed over, mostly getting the back landscaped so we can move the dogs in without living in a mud pit.

Glad both my parents will be back from their travels by then as I think it will be all hands on deck. Fencing due the week of September 10 so at least that will be done. I also need to see if I can move the furniture delivery dates once we have a better idea of dates though we can live without both for a few weeks.

Good to catch up after a couple of weeks of posts and the photos are showing it moving along nicely. Pity my next work trip to MEL will be during the week (before handover), otherwise I'd have tried to drive out to see it.
