They say the average build in Melbourne for the company we're using is around 23 weeks. Given ours is smaller than most, I'm hoping it's faster. 3 months isnt unheard of.

Always nice to have some movement each time you go there!
Hopefully next time we have footpaths.... the gates were open so I wandered a little way down our street, but not down to our block lest I get told off.

I remember when we settled on an apartment but two other apartment blocks were still under construction. I had legal right to enter the building and move in. I was approached by a burly CFMEU person in full hard hat hi-viz - their flag was still flying on the building. He simply told me to get off the construction site. Not to be deterred I told him that this apartment block had settled and I was the legal owner and flashed the access keys. He grunted and walked off saying he was going to see ‘the authorities’ and get me removed. I just said fine and walked in. He didn’t bother me again and I made sure I was back there the next day ;)

Well I have a construction induction card and all the requisite PPE so there isn't a way to keep me off site once we settle ;)

I strongly suggest once you get closer to lock up/internals, set up a remote security camera of some sort (ebay hunting cameras are good for this).

Just for novelty factor alone, its interesting to see whos snooping around.

I did see that someone else who built set up a webcam (taped to a light pole) to film their whole build. Was quite interesting to watch as a time lapse.

I wonder how they power stuff like that? Hubby just bought a solar power security camera hes playing with in the yard.

It's amazing how houses seem to be built in spurts. The tiling at my house (there was a lot) took forever, as did the rendering. The walls went up in about two days...a result of using large panels of Hebel. The trades I found most annoying were the ones that would do 95% of a job, then disappear for a while.

I did a couple of individual days at my house, using a GoPro and external battery. The bits I really wanted (i.e. the Hebel), I was away for and missed entirely.
