TomCat's new digs!

Snuck in today to see our block properly for the very first time. Walked around the land that will soon be our home. Was nice to imagine where our fruit trees will be. Driveways and footpaths are all done, back fence is complete (and a very nice 2m tall).

Very thankful that the street light is right in front of the next door neighbour rather than us....:D

Take it from me, do not plant trees unless you really, really want to deal with trunk issues and arborist costs later on.

My husband and his *#(#(($)! trees, 20yrs later, have damaged some of the fences because of roots and cost us thousands in having them removed and we still have a massive tree in the back yard to deal with. Hate to think about the potential damage they have done to the pipes.

Sorry but there is no way in hell I'm not planting a couple of fruit trees. I've had fruits trees for years and never had a root problem

We have olive, fig, blackberry, mandarin, mango and lemon trees (we live in the suburbs). Kumquat tree as well, by memory (no idea why). The problem with fruit trees are the damned coughies and fruit bats.

The coughatoos discard fruit everywhere, I even had a neighbour ask if kids were throwing mandarins and lemons at our house because the lawn, driveway and road was littered with fruit.

Fruit bats.... flying diarrhea *shudders*. May until July/Aug I have to inspect outside every morning to hose down the house/car ect.

Then you have the randoms walking down the road that think its OK to enter your property to help themselves. and we have 6ft fences.

No one will be able to get to them; theyll be down the back and we'll have 2m fences and a locked gate (plus two "terrifying" jack russels). I dont mind the bats; they get the top fruit, I get the bottom. A big part of buying this block was so that I could have fruit trees and a veggie garden again.

Our sewers were reamed out last week for blockage. Old pipes though. Sure enough, out come a clump of roots. We can flush again now without it coming back up to greet us! Not fruit trees though, bloody Aussie natives the culprit.

We had repeated pipe issues at the old house due to Ivy. I dont think we'll be having issues at the new place.

Wow, coming along now. How exciting :):)

October update is out. Says titles December when I was told November just days ago. Just waiting for testing, Statement of Compliance and then Titles to be issued. Should settle before Christmas. Testing seems to be the biggest hold up, with stage 13 stuck because they cant get stage 12 signed off till next week.

I suppose now at least you know; hope things hurry along.

Received an email from the Conveyancer this morning asking us to get our finance organised. They are just about to submit to council for statement of compliance. Following that it goes to the titles office, which takes about a week. Settlement is usually 2 weeks later. We'er so close I can smell it!

Very exciting! We might actually be settling earlier than I was last told.
