Cannot attend but it didn't take long to sell out. Well done.

Either way, Buzzard needs to clear his PM inbox

Buzzard promises to clear his inbox as soon as he can get to it. Due to a slight technical hiccough (that admin is aware of) that is preventing Buzzard logging in.

He will reply as soon as he is able.

And no, I have not disabled his account and held it to ransom until I get on the Barossa tour. :!::D

Going to paris around that time. Will have to skip it.

Enjoy the day.

As most who have been on a Buzzard Barossa tour can attest, it's one that we all want to attend - he has contacts everywhere. All we know is that it's going to cost $95. Seeing it was enough for me to commit for me, then later for my wife, but it looks like she could be wavering after our retaining wall collapse. I'll get back to you Buzzard

Gosh wall or wine.
Decisions , decisions.

Arrive back from Fukuoka on 8 April, and leave for Dublin on April 20...is it possible to squeeze this in ??!!

Of course it is possible!

I'm not working that W/E so put me on Platinum reserve list then (as I gather event is now full). Will need drop off at airport on Sunday as previously or back to CBD by 5 pm to catch cab to airport :)

Unlike KPC I do need some rest - so, even comping back from Japan a day earlier I will bow out now and will look forward to a better fated ship to set sail in the future ... :D
Just finalising our trip to Fukuoka now which looks like it is going to be very hectic.....and I'm off to Dublin 12 days later so please remove me from the waitlist...even if a spot opens up, I really can't fit it in without killing myself. Next time Buzz!

And next time might be May.
If there is enough interest, I'm more than happy to talk to the wineries and put on a repeat tour so keep expressing your interest people.

I am still interested - I have a few things on in May but hopefully they won't clash

I just found this thread, 2 weeks too late! Put me +1 down for a rerun please.

I am not ignoring this thread, I am just waiting for confirmation of "something special" at Rockford. I don't want to post something that I can't deliver.

Hope you have 'dropped the names' of the various Stonewallers either going or 'could be going' ;)

Titanic Tour of the Barossa

On the 12[SUP]th[/SUP] April 1912 the RMS Titanic was sailing through calm waters after leaving Queenstown, Ireland the previous day.

This year on the 12[SUP]th[/SUP] of April we will be “sailing” the calm highways of Adelaide on the good ship Corston heading towards port Barossa. Once on board at 09:00 sharp, your cruise director will engage you in on board entertainment with prizes to be won. Thanks must go to munitalP for his donation.

Our first docking will be Rockford at 10:00am. Here we disembark and make our way to the Stonewall Stateroom for a private encounter with our host who will guide us through a structured tasting of fine wines, some only available for tasting by premium passengers, which of course is all of us. I can almost hear the swish of waves as wine is poured into your glass.

Like any great vessel, Rockford has barrels on board and we will have the rare opportunity to sample their contents. This alone is well worth the cost of your fare.

I have also been able to secure another bonus for our group from Rockford subject to there still being supplies available.
If you are a Stonewaller, you will be able to purchase another round of much sought after wine. If you are not a Stonewaller you will be able to purchase a half quantity of wine that is usually reserved for the select few. This might be your only opportunity to purchase at cellar door prices!!

After we’re done at Rockford, like the good ship hand that I am, I’ll be yellin’ Ahoy me hearty, time to get on board, first class passengers followed by those in steerage, and head to our next port of call, there’s more tastin’ to be done!

We now navigate our way to Turkey Flat where the gang plank will be lowered and you will be ushered into the Butchers Block Room by the crew. Seated in the Butchers Block Room, our tasting captain will ensure smooth passage through the maze of wines available, each being explored in-depth, a voyage you will most certainly enjoy. To assist queezy passengers, and it may not be the ship that is rocking, you will be treated to a Barossa Valley cheese taster complementing the fine wine on offer.

Be careful how much you consume however, as treacherous waters may be ahead. We certainly don’t want any near-disastrous events to unfold.

Our second shore excursion over at no later than 12:30 we once again board our vessel via the fore door on the port side, the course now set for Kies Family Wines. Once we have dropped anchor, we will make our way to the First Class Dining Saloon where a voluminous quantity of food and beverage awaits. Following your main course you will be treated to a range of homemade cakes and coffee. Offcourse any alcohol consumed during lunch will be at your own expense.

Lunch over; we now make our way to cellar door where we will be greeted by Bronson Kies, 6[SUP]th[/SUP] generation of the winemaking family. This small boutique winery makes beautifully hand crafted wines; sparkling, table and fortified. As well as the opportunity to purchase some wine, why not pay a visit to the gift shop where there is also a range of 30 different teas for you to purchase and take home. Perhaps some tea from Russia may interest you.

With the formalities now over, if time permits our captain will make a detour to Mengler Hill, a most popular lookout where you will be rewarded with a view over the entire Barossa Valley. Alternatively we will now return to our point of origin via the airport where those heading home will disembark. Don’t forget your luggage stowed belowdecks. After saying our goodbyes, we will make one more stop at the Hilton should anybody wish to leave the tour here. Our final stop shall be North Terrace at approximately 5:00pm.

The event shall go live VERY shortly. Keep an eye out for your PM as mentioned upthread. If you do not purchase your ticket as previously mentioned, those on the wait list may mutiny and throw you overboard thus taking your place.

Coming up ... "Titanic Tour of the Barossa - The Movie".

I'm thinking Matt Damon as Captain Buzz? ( yes, that is an unabashed crawl).

Sounds amazing Buzzard.

It's not me that makes these journey's what they are - it's you, the people that attend that make them so much fun. :p

It would be pretty "ordinary" on my own. :-|

+1 and I are also looking at an Indian restaurant for the Saturday night prior (11th April) so stay tuned for a link to another thread.
We just need to check out a couple of places and see if we can put together a banquet for about $30/head.
Feel free to post any feedback on this idea.

WOW Buzz. This sounds amazing !!! You certainly put a lot of effort into the tours you organise. Maybe you should become a tour director !!!
