Tips for Less Miserable Flights

Wow. I mis-read the topic. Thought it was discussing flights that may be airing Les Misérables ;)

Vehemently disagree with '4 wheels are better than two'. At my height, they're just painful and annoying.

The Elite checkpoint is also useless as it's for erm elites ;) Regular pax won't be able to queue or clear the checkpoints in the USA either.

I've found the window seats can be boiling hot if it's a sunny day as opposed to night. Exits definitely colder.

The Lounge Angel tip is a good one.

Once, EK check in agent flatly stated that there was no exit row seat left (even when EF told me there was some mins earlier).

Who was I to argue in that case ?

.......…

Lounge Angel fixed that up for me .... with a smile - a few mins later.

Also disagree with 4 wheelers. Fine on a nice smooth airport floor, but guess what happens when you exit for the car park, or even take it into town? Tipping onto 2 wheels will likely break them, as its not designed for that.

And I don't get the statement '

Airplane windows leak outside air a little. At 30,000 feet, that air may be –30F. Move toward the aisle or bring a sweater.
If they do, surely the air would go from pressurized inside the cabin to the outside?

And this one:

You know the one—right after security, with all the flights on it. Sometimes an airline changes flight info, but there’s a lag before it hits your phone. Check the big screen to confirm your gate, lest you hoof it down to A122 only to discover your plane’s at A17.

Wrong - if you have TripIt pro (and probably other apps). TripIt ALWAYS gets in first, via text to my phone, with gate changes / delays in flights etc. Airport flight status boards are useless, as I think most of us know.

No wheels is the best option.

Aircraft leak. They remain pressurised because they pump air in quicker than it leaks.

Stay away from spinners. The 2 wheelers are much better.

An even better tip is to stay away from people.

Sure ... but the article was saying, or implying that it was colder along the windows because the outside air was leaking IN through the windows.

Had a similar experience flying SQ back to SYD from Heathrow. Check in agent very curtly advised that the flight was full. Lounge Angel got us seats A+C with B blocked (flying Y of course). That extra seat made for a far more comfortable flight!

I used the free trial of trip it pro once and if I had relied on it I world have missed a flight at MIA.

I still use the free subscription to Tripit though.

For most of us here, we should avoid flying on Tuesdays and Wednesdays - we probably won't get op-ups on those days. :)

I took a lot of time out of my busy work life last year to write an ebook titled "how to beat jetlag forever". I figure this is a good place to bring up those tips again.

This is drawn upon my 10+ years as an ultra frequent flyer, and from talking to hundreds of other frequent flyers from AFF and around the world. From these hours of interviews and talking to professional flyers, I've compiled a very detailed and exhaustive list of ways you can totally avoid jetlag and have a more enjoyable flight experience.
These are more than just "tips", but rather real steps you can take to wiping out jetlag from your life and never have to experience it ever again.

Many super frequent flyers already use these hidden techniques and it's been proven time and time again to totally avoid the affect of jetlag on the body.
Collected from years of experience in planes and airports, this list goes well with the article.

This exhaustive list of secret insider tips will surely make all your flights less miserable: My gift to AFF readers: http://bit.ly/12zL5xN

Never had a problem using the four wheeler as a two wheeler. I must admit that the four wheeler has made my revel much easier. Mind you I don't fly as much as many here appear to.

My experience of Tripit Pro has not been overly positive either when it comes to alerts. (Thank god for the P1 team!!)

Me too. My four wheel samsonite works just fine when I pull it along on two wheels

best.ebook.evah.

seriously the thing I find that makes long flights less miserable that isn't covered in your exhaustive ebook is staying hydrated inside and out. Plenty of water, eye drops, a saline nasal spray and plenty of moisturiser. Oh and prescription drugs. So much better than alcohol.
