Tigerair Australia Delays/Cancellations

Flagship flight TT1 from MEL to DPS on Friday 15 April, the 0905 hours, did not take off until 1005. This almost 12 year old B738 aircraft is ex VA, registration VH-VUB.

Tigerair was not having the greatest of afternoons ex MEL on Monday 18 April.

TT461, the 1335 to ADL was not airborne until 1434; TT530, the 1540 hours north to BNE did not take off until 1629. TT471, the 1720 to ADL is expected to be in the air at about 1800 this early evening.

TT8 from DPS overnight to MEL was meant to arrive very early this morning at 0445 (Thursday 8 May) but will not do so until about 2010 this evening, a more than 15 hour delay.

TT213 from SYD to MEL on Monday 9 May (A320 VH-VNF) was airborne at 0809 compared with its 0700 from gate scheduled departure. Not helped by the frequent 'around 0900 hours' MEL holding pattern, it should arrive at about 0940 hours, 65 minutes behind schedule.

TT511 from BNE should arrive in MEL at about 1025, 80 minutes late - A320 VH-VNB is the plane.

TT221 was airborne from SYD at 0948 despite a scheduled pushback time of 0845 with arrival likely in inclement MEL at 1105, 45 minutes late.

The 1110 MEL up to SYD, TT228, did not take off until 1224 (A320 VH-VNO) and so will arrive at about 1340, 65 minutes late. It is very wet in Melbourne.

On a day with inclement weather to say the least in MEL and therefore unpunctual flights in many cases, TT703, the 1125 from CFS to MEL may take the cake. It took off at 1725 this afternoon and should arrive at about 1935 instead of 1320, six and a quarter hours late. A320 VH-VNF is the much delayed aircraft.

As with JQ and its MEL - BNK route, there may be an unofficial 'lowest of the low' among such low cost airlines if one rotation is delayed badly and there is a 'choice' as to where the airline sends the next available plane, particularly if it operates a fleet with few aircraft types and configurations in the seating. MEL - CFS may be among those with absolute lowest priority for TT, as higher volume routes such as MEL - SYD might be viewed as more important with a higher percentage of small business BFOD type passengers.

TT535 from BNE to MEL, the 1840 hours, was airborne at 1936. VH-VNO should arrive at about 2150 tonight, 45 minutes late.

Normally we do not post reports of planes running early in this section but on Wednesday 23 May, the 1705 hours PER across to MEL, A320 VH-VNO, is achieving an indicated speed of 621 knots (1150 kilometres an hour) across the Great Australian Bight which is fast if I am not mistaken. As a result arrival is expected more than 20 minutes ahead of the timetabled on blocks of 2235 hours.

There are strong winds (and rain) in MEL tonight. Nothing to compare with FNQ, Indonesia, Malaysia or Philippines, but 'impressive' for 'temperate' lower southeastern Australia.

While the north-south SYD runways have reopened after a prolonged period of runway 07 restricted operations due to stong westerlies, delays are continuing into the evening of Friday 27 may 2016. TT263, the 1725 hours late afternoon SYD - MEL is forecast to arrive at about 2019, 79 minutes late with A320 VH-VNG as its aircraft.

Tt259, the 1610 hours departure ex SYD is far worse with takeoff at 1932 hours of A320 VH-VNJ and an estmated arrival time of 2030 hours instead of 1725.

At 1800 hours on Thursday 2 June, 'The Age' was reporting online that flights at MEL were disrupted due to a 'low haze.'

It mentioned that TT was particularly affected. TT536, the 1830 hours MEL to BNE was cancelled, as is TT421, the 2145 hours late night MEL to PER. The 2035 hours arrival in MEL ex ADL, TT472, is also not operating while TT287, the 2145 hours SYD down to MEL has also 'got the gong.'

UPDATE: On Friday 3 June, TT559, the 1445 hours mid afternoon arrival in MEL ex OOL has been cancelled.

The Friday 3 June fog in MEL has resulted in many delays and cancellations.

While TT is the smallest of the four major domestic airlines, it is not immune with TT554, the 0940 hours MEL to OOL cancelled and the 0845 hours MEL to CFS, TT700, expected to depart at around 1025.

TT221, the 0845 hours SYD down to MEL was airborne at 0942 and should arrive at about 1104, 44 minutes late. Aircraft is A320 VH-VNP. TT522, the 1100 from MEL to BNE should then depart at approximately 1140.

Relecting the delays (and cancellations) due to MEL fog earlier, TT565, the 1535 hours OOL - MEL took off at 1648 and will not long be in the Victorian capital with terminal arrival likely at about 1858, 63 minutes behind time. A320 VH-VNO is the operating aircraft.

On a wet lower east coast Saturday 4 June 2016, Tt241, the 1245 hours SYD down to MEL took off at 1405 with A320 VH-VNQ, with arrival likely at about 1528, 68 minutes late. Its identically timed JQ competitor was similarly late despite Saturday rarely being as busy as other days of the week, but today reflective of teh challenging weather.

Tiger 612 SYD-OOL departed 3hrs late at 310pm, got to the Gold Coast performed a missed approach and looks like they called it quits and are heading back to Sydney!

Would make for great TV the returning grumpy Tiger pax....

Sunstar320, great information: it looks like the aircraft is A320 VH-VNP and that it will be at the SYD gate at about 1742 or so, although FR24 is incorrectly showing a touchdown time of '1833 hours.' What a scenic ride the pax and crew have had today - up via the coast, back via the inland not far from the New England Highway, even doing a curvy deviation over Willow Tree which is on NSWTrainLink's Sydney to Moree and Armidale daily train route and a pleasant little town to boot.

TT252, the 1535 hours ex MEL immediately followed, having been airborne at 1630, so arriving SYD about 45 minutes behind at 1745 with VH-VNF.

On Sunday 5 June with continuing wet weather in SYD, TT609, the (slightly retimed to 1001) departure from OOL to SYD should arrive at 1212, 42 minutes behind time. VH-VNB is the usual A320.

TT358 is far worse, with this 0910 hours scheduled SYD - BNE flight taking off at 1323, the operating aircraft being A320 VH-VNP. Arrival should be at around the 1438 mark, three hours and 58 minutes late. In common with a VA SYD - DRW flight, this is one of today's worst delays thus far.

The 1645 hours TT256 MEL to SYD (A320 VH-VNJ) was airborne at 1853 and is about to arrive at approximately 2011, 121 minutes late.

Also on Sunday 5 June, TT287, the 2145 hours SYD down to MEL took off at 2243, about 40 minutes late. VH-XUG was the plane.

TT761, the 2150 hours SYD - PER (VH-VNB) looked to be the last of four RPT departures on a very wet Sunday 5 June to strictly breach the SYD curfew which it did at 2319 hours.
