Tigerair Australia Delays/Cancellations

On Monday 7 March the 0700 SYD to MEL (TT213, A320 VH-VNR) did not take off until 0753. Arrival should be a little before 0920 hours, almost 45 minutes late.

Depending on allowed running times for each sector and turnaround times given, this sort of delay can affect flights operated by the same aircraft throughout the day.

So is the case with the afternoon TT242, the 1350 hours MEL to SYD also operated by VH-VNR as it was not airborne until 1444. SYD arrival will be approximately 1603, 48 minutes late, so essentially this plane has not 'gained' anything on the rotations it has operated since TT213 southbound this morning.

TT256 on Thursday 10 March was airborne from MEL at 1739, long after its scheduled 1645 hours departure. Arrival should be at 1848, 38 minutes late. VH-VNG is the A320.

TT253, the 1725 SYD - MEL took off at 1843 and should arrive after being in a holding pattern over Mount Beauty (Vic.) at about 2003, 63 minutes behind time.

TT539 (2015 hours BNE to MEL) was airborne at 2123 with arrival suggested as 0037 (Friday 11)VH-VNP is the A320, 57 minutes late.

The Friday 11 March TT700 is expected to depart a little less than half an hour late at about 0915.

TT243, the 1315 hours SYD down to MEL (A320 VH-VNP) took off at 1418 and should arrive about 1536, 46 minutes late.

UPDATE: TT533 (1740 hours BNE - MEL) was not airborne until 1936. In the form of A320 VH-VND, it is about to arrive MEL at 2240, an hour and 35 minutes behind schedule.

TT501 (0700 MEL down to HBA) on Saturday 12 March did not take off until 0755. Arrival should be 39 minutes late at 0854. VH-VNF (A320) is the conveyance.

TT584 (1045 MEL to CNS) took off at 1146. VH-VNF is the aircraft: arrival should be 53 minutes late at 1403.

TT514, the 0700 MEL to BNE on St Patrick's Day (Thursday 17 March) has been cancelled. Luck o' the Irish, Murphy's Law...

TT218 (A320 VH-VNR), the 0905 17 March MEL to SYD took off at 0959. Due to traffic approaching SYD, it should arrive at about 1126, 51 minutes late.

The Thursday 17 March TT627 (1930 hours OOL to SYD) likes to cut it fine as it took off at 2034 AEST and should land at 2252 for a slightly pre-2300 hours arrival. Aircraft is A320 VH-XUH.

While in most cases these 'close to curfew' make it, occasionally one does not. Irrespective, the stress levels of airline staff and passengers who have things to do in SYD early the next day (which won't be everyone, but may well be a goodly percentage of the travellers) must increase a little.

Friday 18 March 2016's TT703 (1105 CFS down to MEL) took off at 1156 and should arrive at about 1348 hours, 48 minutes late. Plane is A320 VH-XUH.

On Sunday 20 March TT530, the 1550 MEL to BNE is extremely badly delayed with a forecast departure at around 2130 - almost six hours late.

TT557, the 1505 hours arrival in MEL ex OOL was earlier cancelled while TT533, which normally has an evening arrival of 2105 hours has also been put back to in its case a suggested 0250 hours Monday 21 March arrival - far from an ideal time to arrive. For a start there might not be many taxis around (although one could always call Uber or another 'app' rideshare operator.)

Looks like one aircraft has failed - one of the disadvantages of travelling with airlines with small fleets like TT is that it cannot as easily recover from such unexpected occurrences as can one of the two 'big boys' with their larger number of single aisle RPT aircraft.

TT263 (1725 hours SYD - MEL, A320 VH-VNC) took off at 1821 and should be at the arrival gate at around 1945, 45 minutes late.

TT511, the Monday 21 March 0640 hours from BNE to MEL was not airborne until 0743, with arrival of VH-VNQ likely 40 minutes late at 1045.

On Thursday 24 March, whether these delays due to works on runways:

http://www.australianfrequentflyer....ons/probable-mel-delays-due-runway-74633.html

are to solely blame is not known - Holy Thursday is one of the busiest days for Australia's domestic airlines, but TT is experiencing its fair share of moderate to severe delays out of and into MEL.

TT218, the 0905 MEL to SYD did not take off until 1005 this morning; TT520, the 1035 to BNE, took off at 1125.

TT503, the 1210 hours MEL to HBA was airborne at 1301 hours while the mid-afternoon 1500 hours departure of TT413 from MEL to PER is not expected to see the plane airborne until 1607. How ATC can be so accurate with an airborne time is surprising although no doubt it is all carefully programmed, but perhaps not often grounded in the reality of what eventually occurs given the zillion parameters affecting air or surface transport's punctuality.

Reports on whirlpool that Tiger hasn't got approvals for DPS-MEL and first flight this Sunday cancelled. Unsure if impacting other routes

moa999, wasn't that the big strategy of JB at VA to move VA flights across to TT to save money - lower crewing costs, 'pay as you go' rather than free meals typical of an LCC and so on?

Hmmm - 'flights operate subject to government approval' is a staple of airline advertising for 'new routes.' Most of the time the approval is granted in time - Indonesia AirAsia was the other one (also on MEL - DPS) that comes to mind as a recnt example of approval NOT being granted in time, which caused considerable upset (and fights or delays for refunds) to many travellers.

A new route fro TT, DPS - MEL has suffered its first delay with the Easter Saturday arrival of TT 6 occurring at about 0255 instead of 0205. Neither is an attractive time to arrive in MEL, except for the relative lack of road traffic on the freeway and tollway.

Also comment on FT that TR24 DPS-PER has been cancelled on Mon 28/3... albeit it did operate on 23/24/25/3 - meant to be a 6-day/wk flight ex Sat

With MEL busy today with the last weekday for the Easter school holidays, some TT flights have once again been altered by ATC decree to depart at different times. TT224, the 1010 from MEL to SYD is officially shown as departing at a planned 1018; TT524 to BNE becomes the 1216 departure not the 1215 hours.

This will be all part of slot management but while Airservices Australia will have a carefully considered rationale, it seems a trifle pointless as in theory the timetables of all airlines that were previously agreed ought be able to occur in practice, and on top of that flights are subject to numerous unpredictable events such as how many no shows occur at the last minute forcing baggage removal from the hold.
