Tiger airways simply the worst airline

Ie the only way to beat Tiger is to wear a massive jacket with big pockets stuff with everything you needed. Then take it off put it at storage once onboard

Or a big puffy jacket with another backpack hidden underneath it;), but then you would probably look like a hunchback.

And you would have to make sure that the Aerocare baggage dragon doesnt see you take it off and put it on the security screening belt

Josh:p

I'd rather do the pockets in the jacket trick.

I don't know if Tiger allows a garment in (e.g. a suit on hanger in a garment protector) in addition to luggage or if this is counted in the 10 kg (or 7 kg...whatever!)...... otherwise, you can also put stuff in that (the suit pockets and the garment protector itself).

I've decided I might do one flight, just so I can join the 'travelled once and never again' brigade. I will fly BNE-ROK, and carry a book, a spare shirt, a pair of jocks and a toothbrush in my voluminous jacket.

There do appear to be some positives. Charge the same CC fee for AMEX as for Visa. Checked a dummy trip BNE-ROK, $50 each way not outrageous (or outrageously cheap either), would also pay $30 extra to get Seat 1A also. A TT upgrade!! For $4 you can buy the same Byron Bay cookies you used to be served on QF. Luuuuxury.

Anyone know what the legroom is like in the bulkhead (I presume) row? Can you buy bread and water?:?:

Cheers skip

Save ya 50 bucks - give it to me and I'll whack you in the face a few times. You'll get more enjoyment and people will sympathize with your story.

I never feel sorry for anyone flying Tiger =P

Legroom OK in row 1 (bulkhead, at 6' I put my feet on the bulkhead and was quite OK for short flight, longer flight I'd perhaps rather have my knees crushed but legs extended. Oh and it does have the usual array of snacks and drinks for sale. Bread and water though? Probably not.

And Tiger is perfectly fine if you follow the rules around check in and luggage weights, AND the flight is running to time. It seems to me most Tiger problems come from either A) Things going pear-shaped (like the weather or aircraft going US) or B) People arriving to check in with 5 nano seconds to spare or trying to claim the 37kg that they want to check in weighed only 14.8 on their scales at home.

You should be able to manage B), but for A) just know what your backup plan is (grin and bear it and sit it out, give up and don't travel at all, or make a beeline to the nearest DJ, QF, JQ or train/bus/Spirit of Tasmania ticketing counter)!

Well Tiger food ain't that bad then. I recall being served bread (in bun format) and water during QF's cardboard box meal days - and pointing this out to the FA, who indicated resigned indifference. It was free bread and water though:rolleyes:.

just know what your backup plan is

If it goes pear shaped I'll probably forget my $50 and join the 'never visit a Tiger check in counter again' crew.:D

Great thread.

I've never got close to tiger aircraft other to see one rolling by out the window of the plane I'm sitting in before take off.

I think I must arrive a bit early next time I fly and wander over to see what is happening at the TT check in counter. This is going to sound bad, but being a QF flyer I've never even noticed a TT check in counter so will have to go looking.

This could become my pre flight entertainment for a while rather than sitting in the lounge watching QF staff deal with last minute changes without even a raised voice and with a smile at the same time.

I know, QF terminals are so low on drama!

I might do the same - go check out the chaos at DJ and JQ as a warm up then onto TT for the real mc coy!!

TT should put some viewing seats in and charge fir the privilege :)

It is good to see  that Tiger were off to a good start yesterday.

TT5599 PER-MEL was scheduled at 0645 and and due to arrive at 0730 :!:

Well Tiger food ain't that bad then.

Not sure I'd agree with that.

From what I recall it's dodgy junk food like packets of chips and chocolates. Perhaps catering to their intended market, but not very appealing. Plus standard take-away prices - at least QF's were included (when you got them).

Hi guys,

I've posted a Thread concerning tiger airways a few month ago.

Im not gonna go through my story again but just wanted to say that i did not give up and lodged a complain to the CONSUMER Tribunal (CTTT), after tiger airways failed to give an answer to the fair trading.

They called me the day before we were supposed to go to the tribunal and offered me a full refund of my flights + $100 voucher (Yeah i know even for free and don't want to fly with them!!!).

Don't give up! If you think you are in your rights take the time to lodge a complain to CTTT.

Well done! - Without knowing the facts or being bothered to search I will assume Tiger was in the wrong :)

Yes - Always be prepared to lodge a complaint with the relevant Government authority when needed if you are not getting satisfaction from a business/company.

Eventually, they will do the right thing, if they know you are serious and have the time to spend to make that effort!

But did Tiger offer to move your flight dates? Once they canceled my Tuesday flight, but let me more it Friday out , Sunday back. There again in my case they let me know days in advance, not turning up to a no-show.

However I think this is MORE than disgraceful. I also think they owe it to the 200+ plus pax WHY they failed. If there is a journalist looking for an article to print - here is one.

Yeah, they offered a Wednesday flight to Adelaide, when I am going to be back to Sydney on Monday!!!!! (my original flight is Sat morning SYD-ADL, Mon afternoon ADL-SYD).

How to anger of Customers - Tiger Stripes
Ok, pay $30 which you dont say upfront, then have 2 for 1 deals (no use to me) and something like 3 bucks off. Yes, clever, many suckers have fallen for it, again.
I'll save that for a JQ card deal, in 9 months time.

Every day now, my email box gets a Tiger Sale notice of one flavor or the other.
But Canberra - Melbourne is always the same same and the extortionate baggage rates made my bookings with Jetstar and Air Asia a no brainer.

12 Months ago the emails had content and viable deals - but no more, but now I have added a sweep to travel promo folder, because the offers are now void of credibility and not worth opening.

With Air Asia's reduced baggage rate policy and optiontown dot com they have scored big time. Given I just booked a bus trip and VR, tiger is either flying with 99% load factors - or they are are in another price ratcheting phase.

Tiger cancelled our 7:50am flight (we only found out after arriving at the airport at 6:30am) because of 'operational' reasons - which sounds very much like to me that there wasn't enough people on the flight for them to make any money. they put us on a flight 6 hours later, but we were told they would provide any meal vouchers for us - so we had to wait in the airport for 6 hours...on our return journey, while waiting in the terminal, they cancelled 2 other flights for 'operational' reasons and they'd delyed another flight by 4 hours and then another 2 hours - at least they gave those people meal vouchers.
This is the 2nd time we've flown tiger, the first time was a complete shambles also, but we gave them the benefit of the doubt and tried them again, to even worse results.
Tiger Air will not be getting any of our custom again and we are spreading the word of their poor service.

I agree with the comments made regarding inconsistency - their website/emails say if you don't use webcheckin you will be charged $25 at the airport to desk checkin - yet at their Melbourne 'Shed' they advertise it's $30.

We also saw them stop a lady from boarding because she was eating food?!? we always take our own food to eat on the plane, even internationally. Who wants to pay $12 for a stale muffin and coffee on Tiger?

An aircraft was tech in Sydney which required a JH engineer to be sent to Sydney, but it was also operating more Sydney services later in the day so services were canned due to curfew issues. Why is there no Holland engineers in Sydney I dont know, probaly no infrastructure.

Also I dont think its the best time to be eating as you are boarding, there is not a policy in place preventing Tiger domestic passengers from eating there own food on board, only Tiger Singapore enforces this.

which sounds very much like to me that there wasn't enough people on the flight for them to make any money.
That is not the case. Tiger doesn't cancel flights on the day because of low numbers, you would be notified at least a month in advance if they were to adjust the schedule. In your situation, Operations might target flights with 100pax onboard with multiple daily frequencies, compared to say a full flight to Canberra with only a single daily service.

2 new A320's due from France next week with new leather seats, so the schedule shouldn't be affected as much as they are not running at 100% capacity.

Why do so many people have this perception??

This is false, LCC do NOT cancel their flights last minute due to 'light loads' or 'not enough people'.
