If it is Hewa Bora you refer to, thay have had their license suspended following the crash last week.
Yes heard about that. They are all bad up that way. We were not allowed to fly on any of them. I think if you checked every airline up there is banned by the EU.Angola, same deal.

From AAP just this morning

Tiger Airways has appointed a veteran pilot as its safety adviser as it fights to get back in the air following a series of breaches.
The Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) grounded Tiger earlier this month after two of its planes flew at unsafe altitudes on descent into Melbourne airports.
In March, CASA issued Tiger with a show cause notice over concerns of pilot proficiency and aircraft maintenance.
Tiger's domestic flights are now out of action until at least August 1, with the airline claiming the grounding is costing it $1.5 million a week.
Tiger announced on Tuesday it has appointed ex-Qantas chief pilot Captain Chris Manning to the role of safety adviser.
Cpt Manning's career has spanned more than 40 years and includes stints as president of the Australian and International Pilots Association and chief pilot and manager of flight operations with Qantas.
Tiger chief executive officer Tony Davis says he is confident Cpt Manning's experience will help the airline meet its safety targets.
"Safety will continue to underpin our operations at all times and with the assistance of Chris, I am confident that Tiger Airways will operate with the highest levels of safety management across our entire operation," he said.
"Today's appointment is another step towards reassuring the industry and the public that Tiger Airways is committed to a safe, viable, and long-term future in Australia."
Cpt Manning's role at the airline takes immediate effect.

News: Tiger may return to skies earlier after court move

I expect so from whenever to end of Chinese new Year
Well, the busy Christmas holidays/Festive season should be a goer - that can make retailers 50% of the years profit in just that month And the positive is that others may get back on, seeing JQ and Virgin hiked their fare up a LOT. In fact I will fly them in the hope there is lots of spare seat room soon as they get up again.

Based on the court proceedings and the word play on 'imminent', they need to fly again to prove regulator harm, and the overly cautious audit places CASA at risk should TT decide to let the lawyers loose.

WIll they ever fly again?

I'd love to see their budget for this disaster...

They are losing X dollars a day on the ground.

Then when they start flying again, pretty much guaranteed it will be low yields and loads to get people to like them again (a bogans memory is short so they will fly them again at some point!)...

Will they revert to their old ways of canceling heaps of flights to save $?? I'm not sure they could to the same extent as before...

Yes; fares on QF and DJ seem to have increased 5%-10% since they have been out of action.

Good on em! Make hay while the sun shines.

QF needs dosh to prop up QF international.

DJ just needs any cent it can scrape in!!

Ah yes, but that's much too simplistic.

Have you thought (obviously not) that this is an ideal break for TT? They have strengthened their management enormously and have had a month or so to really review and enhance their business plan, routes, fares, etc at little real cost. The CASA really has done them a favour, but at the same time it has lost all credibility.

Did I mention that I was previously a senior officer at the CAA? So I might know a bit about what I am talking about.

What do you know?

Gee, I'm surprised every airline doesn't take a month off every year, the way you make it sound so positive.

I'm afraid you'd need to enlighten everyone on how this has little real costs, when it's a month of lost revenue, yet you still have to pay the airline lease payments, permanent staff and other fixed costs. That's a great way to generate deficits, which is even worse given they were running operating deficits even when they were flying.

Did I mention that I was previously a senior officer at the CAA?
Yes, actually. Many don't have the same view as you however.
