re: Tier Matching at DJ

Looks like every status member on QF will soon be a status member on DJ too, and only a few months ago no one would have even thought about doing such a thing :p
Perhaps some AFF/Flyertalk members may take up the DJ status match offer but I have a hunch that not every status member on QF will be a status member on DJ soon. ;)

re: Tier Matching at DJ

Before I status match and receive some more wallet bling, what I really want to know (but can't be bothered looking up myself) is, how many Y+ flights would I have to take PER-SYD/MEL to retain Gold? No point in being comped if I won't be able to retain it.

Velocity is based on $ spend. As Gold you earn 7 points per $ spent and need 50,000 "status points" (ie. points from flying, not c/cards etc) to qualify or re-qualify. So that's a spend of $7,143 in a year. Let's say that Per-Syd/Mel is about $400 return in disc Y - that's about 18 return trips.

Sorry just realised you said Y+ - not sure about that but I assume it's more than double the $ of disc Y, so maybe 6-8 return flights?

Its four return flights, Y+ is $1000 each way while its stilll around. Note that for international its not $$$ based but mileage based, especially with Ethihad.

re: Tier Matching at DJ

Lol hardly. The changes barely raised an eyebrow in the real world outside AFF...

From most posts it seems that people are doing it more out of anger towards QF than love of DJ. I'm a bit more clinical and DJ simply aren't up to scratch for me right now.

But it will be good to have some DJ experts in AFF as there are pretty much zero around ATM. Then if DJ ditch all their LCC trimmings and get serious at some point those experts can help other people they should hopefully attract!

I'm glad we have some sacrificial lambs on the way over ;) !!

Anyone volunteer to do the same for tiger!? :)
Dont know if they status match AA anyway but at present i do not do enough domestic flying to enjoy the status on DJ and internationally I am not going to trust VA for a while.

I am doing the same. I'd add - more MEL-LAX frequencies... (I guess that'd require more aircraft)
Very prescient!

Tier Matching at DJ - Process

Due to everyone having to PM DJ insiders to get there status match actioned quicker, suggests that many other people in the real world have noticed the QF changes

Thankfully my match came though quickly and I'm now booking DJ exclusively when the timetable suits. That means for 50% of flights.

I'm not sure about the wallet bling as I'm still waiting for a card after about 2 weeks. But I'm sure it will arrive. I also haven't checked the length of the status match.

re: Tier Matching at DJ

No harm done! I just wish someone had posted it before I sent off my request - if I'd waited two weeks for my year to rollover, I would have received an extra 12 months benefit!

:D
Very good to know....mine rolls over end of October as well.....so will hold off the request until November...

re: Tier Matching at DJ

I apologize in advance if I have missed this somewhere.. How does the status match transfer? Platinum to Gold?

Yes - it is Platinum = Gold, Gold = Gold, Silver = Silver

Obviously Bronze is already matched with Red! :D

This is what I thought, but I sent my request off (I'm going to be QF WP this weekend) and I notice this evening my account is now Silver, and the benefits are valid till 31 Dec 2011. My partner (who joined DJ at the same time, and is QF SG) has been matched to DJ Gold and benefits until Nov 2012.

Strange. I've message Velocity Rewards to see if this is an error... Silver isn't going to make me switch anytime soon...

re: Tier Matching at DJ

I hope they have a look at the guest rules, one guest for Gold is a little tight when your travelling with the family, Markis10jr is heading to Sydney in December and I dont think he will get much value out of the $35 fee for the lounge visit as a 2year 1 month old.

Small side note, QF SG only gets you a single guest as well. That said, surely logic would prevail and a 2 year old wouldn't be counted as a guest at DJ lounges?

Yep, $35 for some hot milk and change facilities is pretty steep!

WP gets two guests, Velocity Gold = 1, so top tier does not match top tier.
QP - children aged 3 years or under are not counted as guests for the purpose of determining the number of guests of the Member
DJ - Children under the age of 18 are welcome in The Lounge, but must be accompanied and supervised by an adult Member. The Single Entry fee of $35 applies to children over the age of 2 years.

Its a minor detail (in more ways than one ) but annoying, especially given there is no discount for Markis10jr on most fares and he is unlikely to send the lounge broke with his food and drink consumption.

re: Tier Matching at DJ

I earned my DJ Gold the long hard way back a few years ago. I eally enjoyed the quiet of being in a lounge that was not over crowded, and a checkin line that was all mine.

I would prefer that all you QF folks that have not changed over yet don't... stay away. Stay right where you are.

If you are only travelling between the major cities, DJ offers a great service of getting you there, boarding and de-planing quickly, and quick bag service. A few little nice things along the way, but seriously, unless you are going from east to Perth, flights are a max of two hours. Seriously how much food could be needed in that time.

But anyway - please stay away, dont change. I have seen an increase in patronage of the lounge that I am not happy with, and yes I am greedy and would prefer it all to myself..(went to the QF pub recently, and considered seeing if I could go wait in the DJ lounge because it was so crowded)

Sure, but DJ has two elite levels and QF has three. I maintain that DJ Gold is the functional equivalent of QF Gold. :)

re: Tier Matching at DJ

Hi guys,
Clarifying that [email protected] is indeed the email address to send to for Status matching.

There has been a small backlog to clear up, but I've been told this is being worked on now.

Sorry, but I can't comment on the matter of the email open notification :?:

What I can offer, is for anyone wanting me to personally follow this up, please DM your details (include your email address) and I'll make sure they are prioritised.

Thanks for the patience. :)

Good work both Mrs Batesy and I am QF Gold but travel with DJ quite a bit. Mrs Batesy will be doing hers tommorrow!!
