Disappointing this match was canned without any prior notice (although I understand DJ have every right to do with their program as they desire).

I was in the process of uploading a pic of my WP card to forward off to them to get the match process enacted.

I have one flight with DJ on Sunday (not a premium economy flight) that will be my first since I had a free voucher through Virgin Mobile (that's gotta be 7 years ago now).

Thanks to the close of this match, I'll just stay with QF now. Shame. I was actually very interested in shifting all my domestic and possibly US trips to DJ/VA, but won't now (I'm not starting from the bottom tier again, I have not been NB since 2001, and have no plans to ever go back anywhere near it!).

Disappointing this match was canned without any prior notice (although I understand DJ have every right to do with their program as they desire).

IMHO it would not hurt to send an email and a PM The worst that can happen is that they say NO and you might just get a surprise.

The offer appeared on a business travel website (Virgin Blue gives free Velocity Gold status to Qantas frequent flyers - Flights | hotels | frequent flyer | business class - Australian Business Traveller). Reading the article, though, they would seem to have contacted someone in Velocity about it.

There have been mentions on here that it was not an ongoing offer.

I have heard unofficially from another AFF member that it wont see in the new year, but things can change.

There was certainly a warning posted through the thread about it going soon!

Hi Velocity rep, and thanks for the info - but may I respectfully ask in what ways you consider this article and others 'incorrectly represented' the status match promotion? The status match deal reported was exactly as described by Velocity's own customer service reps.

I’d imagine that while the details were correct, nothing was mentioned of how many matches they could hand out (and that may not have been public knowledge anyway), so with all the extra publicity the offer couldn’t last to when they’d planned to end it.

Plus it all broke on this site but then spread to other sites, so perhaps it was targeted

I know the feeling - I brought my card in to scan today. Oh, well, what can you do?

Sent off. Velocity Rewards, any chance of making an exception until the end of the day (I only have a standard economy fare booked however...).

Same here. My recent QF experiences have been less than pleasurable, so I;m defo going to try and requalify. Have 4 DJ domestic trips booked already (work), and am seriously thinking about EY for Europe next year (in F) so that should get me over the line, and retain Gold with QF at the same time...

One that I missed out. Already had QF SIN-FRA booked. Looked into etihad/VA BNE to SIN but it was a day out of making the connection, plus I had to get back to ADL. Next europe trip......

So DJ thinks the month of November ends on the 12th.

I’m not sure they do. I think they had a promotion that could run up to the end of November, but they also had a limited amount of matches they could give. The promotion could still be on till the end of the month, they’ll just decline to match now as they have used their quota.

What quota? Perhaps I am wrong but I would have thought taking potential business away from Qantas was the target and continuing to status match until the end of November would certainly have helped further to achieve that goal. Perhaps not.

Are DJ worried that their lounges are now going to be overcrowded?

Velocity Rewards referred to an allocation being exhausted, so preumsably they had a limit to how many memberships they could give out. They might not have anticipated the demand, and I’m sure many more applied that didn’t post here, so there might be a lot more Velocity Golds now than it appears.

Now to see if the free status pays off for them I expect, and if it does, more status matching will happen in the future. Until then, I’ll guest you in John
