The Velocity Status Run Master thread

Hey guys will only need 165pts more to hit velocity platinum in May, I have the double DSC offer which i activated last night.

Am I right in believing that BNE-MEL-HBT will earn me 200 (?) return status credits given the double SC offer? It came in at $212 each way (Saver fare)
Any other options that could be recommended to attain the 165 points...i did look at Melbourne via sydney but it came in at 160 (?) return which will leave me 5 points short.

I've sent a request via that google drive to lobo to access the spreadsheet but am still a considerable number of posts behind being able to pm directly. Thanks Chris

No I don't think so.

BNE-MEL Saver = 15SC
MEL-HBA Saver = 10SC

So 25SC each way x 2 x 2 = 100SC.

BNE-MEL-HBA will give you 50 SCs pp return normally for a Saver fare, so only 100 during a DSC promotion.

Damn, i thought the standard fare (not lite) was classed as full fare economy on the status credit chart?

Thanks guys, obviously going to have to look at alternate combinations. Does the MEL-PER-HKT booked on a saver fare earn (1680 miles) 40 Status + (3005 miles) 60 status = 100 each way?

Because if that works ill just pay the little bit extra to go that routing on my international flight in March.

Keep in mind, the double SC promotion is only for flights taken between 30 April and 25 June 2014. (Also only for domestic flights.)

Thanks Calroth i had taken that into account, i think the 100 each way is correct given the miles travelled for saver fares?

I was saying i would substitute the $424 i was looking at spending on those flights to achieve platinum by taking this routing with Virgin instead if it would earn me over the 165 that i will need :)

Ah, gotcha.

Saver and Saver Lite fares count as "Discount Economy", so I suspect you'd get 20+30 status credits one way.

If you booked Flexi, that counts as "Full Fare Economy", so that's how you'd get 40+60 status credits one way.

Thanks for the clarification on fare types, when i was reading the fare types on the site for some reason it had me believe that saver fares were full fare.

In this case the flexis for this routing are around $100-200 more than via Singapore which would achieve similar points. So back to the thinklab!!

Hi everyone. Flying SYD-MEL-LAX return J at the end of April. Currently Silver with 200SC's to Gold.
I've got a mate flying the same plane home in Economy, so hoping to reach Gold and get him into the lounge at LAX to soften the blow a little bit.

Bit of a newbie here, so any suggestions on best routes to maximise SC earn? Any tips on doing a SC run? (Again.. Newb!)

Note: I have considered my SC earn from the SYD-MEL-LAX leg covering me to Gold, but have an issue with a hyphenated name which the velocity system hates / have to call to claim.

Oh, and sorry if this has been asked previously. Thanks heaps!

What's your budget? Did you get the Double Status Credits (DSC) offer via email this week?

You could fly from SYD-BNE-CNS on Flexi fares return and earn 20+30+30+20=100 SCs for ~$1,100, and if you have the DSC offer, that's 200 SCs (though that's for travel between 30 April and 25 June 2014 so may not be relevant to you).

SYD-CNS in J return will give you 120 SCs, though that's ~$1600.

So back to the thinklab!!

What about taking the train the Gold Coast, getting a Business Saver class to Hobart (Via MEL) (200 SC with the DSC promo) and hopefully a saver lite back to BNE (50 with DSC). A bit of overkill on the points but should be doable for ~$1000

Cheers for the option Lobo, I'm deciding on where to holiday on the 24th (OS) so thinking i may just fly with SQ booked through SQ so that i get all status points credited at full fare economy (is this correct?). Maybe go see coughet again departing Melbourne but returning to Brisbane. It won't have anything to do with the double SC offer but with a 7 hour layover in Changi on the way there ill be able to take advantage of the city tour option. Is there a way to calculate applicable points that i will earn?

Its Melbourne-Changi-coughet returning coughet-Changi-Brisbane. Going with flexi option (W) as may have to return for work early - Comes in at $1204)

Will i be able to use my Virgin Gold membership to enter the respective lounges? I don't have a card at present as it was sent to my work address offshore whilst i was on the mainland. I'm flying 3 domestic sectors prior to this date, are the lounges able to offer a temporary replacement card at all?

Sorry for all the questions im still trying to take in as much as i can.

Just make sure the fare you're booking with SQ is either of the top two, Flex and Fully flex I think it is. The other Economy fares won't earn SC's.

Looks like they book to W class so should be ok from my understanding. Cheers

I got double points not SC's unfortunately!

I've figured it's going to cost me $1500+ to get where I want to be. What are your thoughts on doing a SC run internationally? Is that normal?
From what I saw yesterday, I could do SYD-PER-DPS / DPS-MEL-SYD in I this weekend for around $1900...
Are there any issues you can think of dropping into Bali overnight, in terms of immigration haha?

Again, thanks so much for your reply

BNE-CNS in J return will cost ~$1,100 and earn you 120 SCs, with Flexi SYD-BNE return costing $578 for 40 SCs or

SYD-OOL return Y for $390 40 SCs +
OOL-MEL return J for $1118 120 SCs.

Shorter flight times compared to DPS options and no hassles with immigration, though no Duty Free possibilities!

I can see ADL-MEL-BNE-CNS in Y for $664 this weekend. That'd be 20+30+30=80 SCs. 160 with return back to ADL + some flights between SYD-ADL on Flexi would get your 200.
