That does sound weird. Where is proper Change Control and similar "right to object" to an upgrade happening?

I could have stopped it (it announced that an update was available when I turned the TV off) - but my point was that I did not even know this could be done (at least) in Australia.

Just seems pretty bizarre. What else do they push over the airways I wonder? And people are worried about subliminal messages ;)

Over the air upgrades are for the digital tuner, its part of the spec to allow the boxes to cater for new channels/capabilities as they come out, specific TV frmware functionality to improve issues with individual models will still require a alternate firmware upgrade.

That is an interesting conspiracy theory.

Could explain why my golf has been going down hill the last 6-7 years.

Thanks to some local knowledge and planning by ozbeachbabe we are having a really good time in Darwin.

Dinner last night on the wharf with the threat of a thunderstorm was both really good food and entertaining. We then sat and solved the problems of the world over a glass of red until ozbeachbabe left at around 1030pm. We got to sleep in but she had to be up for work at 0430 :!:

Today we swam with crocs, handled crocs, snakes and goannas, looked at a B52 bomber, saw a memorial to a friend who was killed in an F-18 accident. I also bumped into another friend who I knew in the RAAF many years ago and who now flies 737s for QF.

More to come tomorrow!
On Tuesday we went on an Adelaide River jumping croc cruise and saw some seriously big crocs in the wild. Having a 4-5 metre croc appear out of the murky water just beside you is a frightening experience.

On returning to Darwin we went to a fish feeding session where the fish literally swarmed around us and Mr 9 year old was totally fascinated.

In the afternoon we went to another park where we fed the big crocs which was an absolutely awesome experience. We learnt a lot about them and how dangerous they really are. We also saw lions, tigers and a good variety of other animals and reptiles. a truly great afternoon.

At the park we met up with some people from Vancouver and gave them a ride back to the hotel. A quick swim in the hotel pool (no crocs) and them off to dinner at the Trailer boat club with out new friends, ozbeachbabe and Rob. A fitting finish to out couple of days away. Really great and well priced food.

This morning we took it easy with a swim, a wander around the wharf again and then off to the airport. We said goodbye to ozbeachbabe who was our dispatcher and boarded out flight to CBR.

Once on board we found the Captain was our former neighbour when I was at high school so we asked the flight attendants to say hello for us and from then on we had the royal treatment for the whole trip. EXCELLENT :!::D:shock::D

After landing we stopped and waited and had a good chat with him. We are now in the CBR J lounge awaiting out 2045 flight to MEL.

We have had a good time as has our 9 year old grandson who accompanied us on the trip.

You said 'out' twice, instead of 'our' so obviously having TOO much fun in the J lounge :D

Mercedes Benz - From 2012

Haven’t been following it all that much since 2005, but I thought back then the talk was of Toyota coming in, or one of the larger market share cars, and I don’t consider Mercedes to have as large a market share because of the premium.

It’s good that it’s going to be more than 2 manufacturers, but I still reckon motor racing is getting less interesting as more and more safety and engine size restrictions come into place year after year.

I noticed that too and chalked it up to typing style on perhaps a computer keyboard you’d not be used to.

Nicely timed on both parts...ozbeachbabe to be on shift and then to be your dispatcher; you to be leaving on the right day to see her.

Gee, he must be an old pilot then :D :p

That's lovely to hear. That's why I want to share a trip away with my parents before the inevitable.

Dunno about that. The software version on my TV has changed. According to Sony the specific issue fixed by the update is

TV set restarts several times, and eventually shuts down with the
sbin.PNG
(Stand by) indicator flashing ten times

I also had a bit more of a search and it seems Panasonic fixed a daylight saving related timer issue on one of their recordors using Over the Air Download.

Happy Birthday Bundy Bear. Don't knock too much of your namesake tonight, ya hear?

(Mainly because in less than two days time you can have as much as you want for free :))

The info I had must be wrong, I wonder how they get access to the signal, do the TV channel charge for it ????
