Hmm, yeah I think you'll make it.
Otherwise, you could go to DFO for some shopping... that's close enough right? !

Well, according to FlightStats, all flights to DPO have arrived today.

The last flight - assumed the one our esteemed Doc was flying - arrived very late, however; close to 1.5 hours late.

Yep 85 minutes late departing, about 82 minutes late arriving.sitting next to a fellow that had come from ADL today.one of the last flights to land before MEL closed-had to sit on the plane for over an hour as they wouldn't operate the airbridge due to the lightening.
At least I whiled away the time in the QP enjoying the Rolling sparkling white-as some of you know i have a particular bias on this one.
Also need to praise QF checkin at SYD-couple of older fellows thought they were important enough to push in front of me at the QP checkin line.i got called over to a bag drop desk. Was offered an exit row but i declined so as to keep my aisle seat. Was having a little light banter and I made the comment that sometimes you can be lucky with an empty middle seat-she commented I might indeed be lucky and was.:).
Also on boarding as my BP went into the reader the fellow made a comment-welcome aboard drron-my BP didnt have that honorific on it.No one else was greeted by name and most at that time were J pax.No upgrade though.:(

I’d have thought that technology to protect operators of the airbridge would be available these days so people could unload from an a/c. The operators inside it normally anyway right, so how would the lightning get to them…

Sam it is MEL not BNE where men are still men:p:p:p:p

Thanks to some local knowledge and planning by ozbeachbabe we are having a really good time in Darwin.

Dinner last night on the wharf with the threat of a thunderstorm was both really good food and entertaining. We then sat and solved the problems of the world over a glass of red until ozbeachbabe left at around 1030pm. We got to sleep in but she had to be up for work at 0430 :!:

Today we swam with crocs, handled crocs, snakes and goannas, looked at a B52 bomber, saw a memorial to a friend who was killed in an F-18 accident. I also bumped into another friend who I knew in the RAAF many years ago and who now flies 737s for QF.

More to come tomorrow!

SE Qld Water Storage is now at 94.6%

That is an amazing inflow of 10% over the weekend!

Home | Seqwater

And the 28-day weather outlook is showing 13 consecutive days of rain from Wednesday

I thought it was interesting to learn that the flood storage capacity of Wivenhoe is more than the dam water capacity. With all this rain coming, perhaps they should expand it a little, so we can keep the water and not just have to let it go when it’s safe to.

Not looking forward to rain on St. Paddy’s Day.

I once was fishing for trout out from Armidale and hooked a goanna.Really exciting for a while.

Not to many places you can catch up with a Buff like you can in Darwin, its well worth the visit to anyone with an aviation bent!

Indeed it is. Wivenhoe was originally built for flood mitigation. But we would have been in real trouble a few years back if it was not also functioning for storage and supply!

Up to 95.6% today!

Just got back from Perth last night and what a nice city it is. Possibly the cleanest Australian capital city I've ever visited (NB: I've yet to visit Darwin or Hobart). Also tasted some truly spectacular Cab Savs and Shiraz's down in the Margaret River and Geographe wine regions. And with a visit to Louis Vuitton on King Street, I've now been to every single LV store and concession in Australia and NZ (Melbourne x 3, Sydney x 2, Brisbane, Surfer's, Cairns, Perth, Auckland x 2, Christchurch, Quenstown) - if Perth is the most isolated capital city in the world then I can say I've now been to one of the most isolated LV stores in the world.

Thanks to Flashware and Reggie for their hospitality.
