Hi; fun and games in the office this morning;

A supplier from Italy has sent a pallet of goods from Italy to Australia but instead of sending the goods to Brisbane they have been sent to Perth.

The supplier trainer was meant to fly to Brisbane next week, might tell them to go to Perth instead.

Oops.

What was the delivery address in the order?

So where are the people they were going to train - BNE?? Surely it will be cheaper to have them ship it over than have all the trainees (and trainer) fly to PER. Then again, if you are one of the trainees, you might be pushing for PER ;)

Tasmania is such a great place for long distance driving! Some amazing scenery and better road condition than we had expected. But does anyone actually stick to 100km/hr when signposted? There's either the camper vans/trucks doing 70, or the cars doing 120 in convoy!

And on a related note, are there even speed camera's? I know in NSW we have the triple-whammy (fixed, mobile and police radar), but in over 1000km of driving, we only saw one fixed (in Hobart) and that's it! Did not see one mobile camera, or even highway patrol - do they exist?

Off to Tassie tomorrow, yes there are mobile speed cameras, they are a white trailer arrangement as seen here Police trial camera trailers | The Advocate and here is the other side Police urge road patience as drivers face the biggest risk of hospital admission on Christmas Eve - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

I've seen them in Ulverstone and Launcestion on 50kph streets, however I haven't done much driving around Tassie, maybe one of the locals can give us more information.

They definitely have police radar.Fellow in front of us a week ago driving out of Wynyard towards Burnie was pulled over.

An ABC listener, Erin from Cooks Hill, said she has cancelled a wedding party at a local restaurant that displayed the poster.

"The only reason that my wedding reception was there in the first place was because I could afford it because of penalty rates."

Yes this poster was part of a failed campaign that was quickly pulled because customers told the businesses that they would take their business elsewhere.

See the whole story here: Anti-penalty rates campaign backfires

But beyond this particular campaign, the battle to take away penalty rates is real – and it's more than just a series of poorly-conceived posters. The ACCI's submission to the Fair Work Commission makes that very clear.

As I've argued before, business owners and lobbyists always make the case about shopping and eating, relying on our baser selves and our greed. But it's their greed which needs addressing here. Do you imagine that any savings would be passed on to you, the consumer?

I was more surprised with the open roads (100km/hr) rather than the urban areas. After extensive driving on the A1/3/4/9, we did not see anything at all! Although considering most other cars were easily doing around the 110-120 mark most of the time, I can only suspect there aren't often radar traps on those roads (outside of the urban 50km/hr areas)

Seems the long game is to get rid of penalty rates for Nurses.
The real target is always the biggest sector which pays penalty rates. The nurses. The social workers. Yes, those most likely to be paid penalty rates work in social assistance and health care. And one-third of them rely on that income to pay household expenses.

Funny how some things can work out.

My return flight SYD-HKG in 5A with business class service cost ~AUD900, ~48,800 QFF points and earned 80 SCs.
