On my latest visit to the US every manufacturer was installing robotic equipment to make things faster, more accurately and at a lower cost. This revolution is heading our way.

Having toured the BMW factory in Munich, it's a good idea. Just need to worry about employing displaced workers.

Thank you for the shingles info. MrP had it. I didn't get chicken pox until I was 32 so maybe 80? But wouldn't that be grim. :(

How do you do the factory tour without buying a car? I'm assuming this is the Munich plant, not a different one.
The factory in Munich has a showroom and museum attached to it. Book the (€8) tour at the information desk or preferably in advance. They are available in English or German, and you should book as soon as you know when you expect to be visiting. I was lucky when I was there I got a 'standby' spot due to a no show.

The Munich plant for me. Just wandered in without booking and snagged two spots on the next tour. BMW world has public tours from the lower levels. You can look to the upper levels and see the cars being driven straight from the factory for people to pick up.

Can't remember that detail but pretty sure photos were verboten.

What's more shocking is that I still have water in my tank in Adelaide. IN DECEMBER!!!

Obviously due to global warming. Probably needs a coupla million to some uni to figure out that it's a sign of the catastrophe to come.
