Probably low (I think the first refits were deployed on the Trans-Pacific). But, it's still better than Y. Yes, even better than a 4-seater lay-flat :)

You did quite well getting that upgrade! Maybe it's not that popular a route for upgrades... or not the right season...

That's why I deliberately flew via FRA instead of direct to LHR (why fly direct, when you can connect...) as QF5 is often a quieter flight so better chances.. the extra 10 SC doesn't hurt, too :D

For those of us who are predisposed with not paying more APD than we would like to, this is the other reason why. :)

Saw a sign in Sydney over the weekend that indicated an Amazon recruitment networking function was being held.

Looks like the rumours that Amazon are wanting to set up an Australian website / base is likely to occur.

Can't be good! I suspect AZ are looking to get in on the Oz closed shop gravy train. :(

Posted on a wing and a prayer ...

... yeah. The Australian retail "tax" will apply, I am sure! Although, you can already shop at Amazon (EU) or Amazon (US) from the UK and get them to ship (IIRC), so I still expect we will have the opportunity to use other Amazon websites. At least it *should* reduce shipping costs and improve the range of products we can by from Amazon.

- UNLESS, Amazon doesn't intend on opening up a warehouse/ fulfilment centre for Australia, but are only concentrating on their cloud services. A perusal on the Amazon Jobs site shows lots of AWS related jobs, but nothing else.

AWS is what I was referring to.

I would be *very* surprised if Amazon setup an order fulfilment warehouse in AU.

Did anyone see the pics in the Sunday Telegraph reported to show Grant Hackett's Melbourne apartment after a drunken rampage?
Words fail me :(

It was reprinted today, albeit a few pages back.

I saw him at Channel 9 a few weeks back, but not since then. Although I am not in that building as much as I once was.

It's public knowledge they have considered entering the Australian market, but I don't know the outcome of the feasibility study. If they do, the local operation would be required to be registered for GST and collect GST.

FWIW I often order things on Amazon Prime and ship them down to NJ. When next in NYC, drive down for dinner, pick up items, bring home... No eye-gouge CA/NY sales tax, no shipping fees, lots cheaper than buying in Australia.

As for Cloud services / AWS, they are definitely setting up in the Australian market.

Did anyone see Doug Cameron on the news tonight say "you could drive a 747 Airbus… " classic :)

No, but his accent is so thick it may have been unintelligible to the average viewer ;)

I'm home alone ( well except for the kids but they don't count) for the next 2 weeks.
Downside of having a frequent flyer hubby.
He's gone to LHR on his favourite airline CX ( loves the FA's).
On the upside I can now watch The Voice and browse AFF in peace :D

1st time watching this sort of thing & enjoying it!!! What!?
lots of talent out there, & such different styles! And then there's Delta & Joel too!!! Be still my beating heart!

So, Princess Fiona, Shrek likes the hosties? Gotta watch those quiet ones..

and it's cold & good weather for food & reading / browsing.

Not sure if anyone has read this book The Top Five Regrets of the Dying recently or read any of the articles on it.

The 5 points from the official website

When questioned about any regrets they had or anything they would do differently, common themes surfaced again and again. Here are the most common five:

I thought I would add my own comments.

1. I wish I'd had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me. Does that mean I should fly more. :p
2. I wish I didn't work so hard. "I will take the rest of the week off work.
3. I wish I'd had the courage to express my feelings. "Does this part mean punching someone in the nose when they are annoying.
4. I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends. Do Facebook friends count.
5. I wish that I had let myself be happier.:)

I wouldn't recommend reading the book on your next flight or you could be shedding a tear or 2, it is a good read but it is pretty heavy stuff.
:(
