I just eat bread un toasted. Easy. Don’t need coffee either. No fuss. No hairdryer in morning. Easy

I don’t eat toast these days either. And no hairdryer here - but definitely hair straighteners. Yet another small appliance where you get what you pay for and quality trumps.

I don’t own an iron either...

In the end a $50 toaster vs a $200 toaster means that you can get 4x$50 toasters if it breaks down

But surround sound systems are different.

Spa treatments - no point won’t change any thing.
I'm not out to impresss anyone. I'm not a fan of "designer" anything. Cheap suits me fine as long as it doesn't break down regularly.

Quick quiz.

You've just picked up your hire car in Israel, and you are finding the traffic on the freeways a bit stressful (think multiple cars doing multiple lane changes, at speed.

The rental mob didn't tell you, and you forgot to ask about tolls (ie tag, cash, other etc).

Suddenly this looms into view - there is NO English anywhere except the couple of words you see.

What do you do?

a) Scream ARRRRRGH!, bang the steering wheel, park and try to find someone who speaks English
b) Drive straight through - DTKWIA?
c) Stop on the toll plaza and sob until some-one comes over
d) Turn around, go the wrong way for a bit and find another way.

Easy.Go through the one that says cash.No problem if the fellow tells you that you have already paid by tag.

Far right lane definitely has cash in white lettering.Doesn't have a car sign but still the lane I would pick.

Either am I. I just want what I buy to work properly so if a cheapie does the job I’m happy but if it doesn’t do what I need it to, then I pay to find one that does. Still haven’t bought my ideal toaster yet though. Still looking. :)

What make that Lamb Kabsa or anything on an airline for that matter authentic?. Maybe the lamb was slaughtered the traditional way? It obviously survived the sea voyage

Please don’t say because it’s been designed by a designer chef with a pony tailo_O

........

Brum according to our Anzac neighbours over the dutch!

........

Precise measurements I must say!
Did you round off from the third decimal ?

LOL. As an expat K1w1 I can attest to it being Bream (kiwi accent notwithstanding) across the ditch.
I always have wondered where the Aussie pronunciation came from though...... a bit like MarOON vs MarOAn I suppose.

My first choice is with DrRon, the Cash lane, but seeing that is wrong, will go with the lane you are in,
Reasoning - assume most travellers will have an e-tag, therefore more lanes for them, so go the lane you are in with the red square lingo. My guess is that says "tourist"

I thought hire cars all had etags and any charges went straight to the card. Ours did at Christmas time. Which means the lane next to the cash lane.

Cheap suits me fine as long as it doesn't break down regularly.

But even if it does sometimes it still is cheaper buying several cheap and cheerfuls than buying a designer expensive.

But therein lies the catch.
It may sound like “Bream” to an expat Kiwi but what comes out sounds like Dutch.

Not MarOON more like MerOON

......

Buzzzzz. Fail. Not one of the choices offered.
Then add (e) Cash Lane.:D

Haven't fallen off the roof or a ladder (touch wood) but had a car accident 45 years ago when a DUI came out of a side street on my left and demolished my Bolwell. Car was punished but me, not a scratch.

Roger's incident was an accident, mine was sheer stupidity, my incident with the ladder was because I was in a hurry, I've fallen off things before but never really hurt myself! I'm usually very clumsy, quite often because I'm in a rush, that's why I married a nurse!

Any photos of the Bolwell before the accident? You were very lucky because they didn't have a lot of safety features built into them. A friend had an early one, I drove it a couple of times and remember thinking that the only thing between me and the truck next to me was a thin piece of fibreglass. Geez, I'd like to have one now.

Think you’re being a bit hard on yourself there Cossie but yes, it probably was a godsend to have married the good MrsCossie. :)

I can do without toast and coffee.

We've been using $60-$70 irons for over 40 years. They work just great. So does the $15 ironing board. It would be really silly to go and splurge on a designer brand?

I dont own a toaster but found a sandwich maker does a good job at toasting bread.

Got home last night. Etihad driver was the worse, to save the Easter Distributor toll, ran the rabbit warren of inner Sydney streets and we would have been half way home by the time he finally, finally hit the harbor bridge. Then slept for about 14hrs.

I need to buy a new sandwich press for work, someone managed to blow ours up on Tuesday (there are scorch marks on the bench...).
