Never been good with alcohol. So I’ve never been drunk

Mrs QS and I went to a Chinese wedding reception
Round tables
Bottle of expensive Cognac per table.
Bride and Groom attend each table so that each table can toast them.
Best man does drinking on behalf of Groom
So Mrs goes to join the entourage who follow the cognac toasting party around each table.
MrsQS forgets that there is a delay between imbibing and alcohol effect. She got to 15 shots!!. Needless to say she found room under the table.

Search you tube video “yum sing wedding” to get a sense of what goes on at a Chinese wedding reception. The harder the liquor the more prestigious
Reminds me of my experience in Kochi (Japan) at wedding of my friend (groom) to his Japanese wife in 1992. Google Maps

First up was the traditional Shinto wedding part, kimonos, temple, bowing, tea ceremony and an experience I won't ever forget (probably because I was sober at the time).

Then the western party of the wedding at the Kochi Holiday Inn ballroom, bride and groom announced and walked through the smoke filled stage - they had both changed (she had changed into western wedding dress and he was in tuxedo with Australian flag bow ties like the rest of us).

Our table was one Australian girl (who was the translator for the table and friend to bride, whom we had met back in Brisbane when doing all the organising for the trip) and then us 9 Aussie males (we thought it was a great idea to combine a holiday in Japan and the wedding). Middle of the table was a barrel of expensive Sake. Loss of face not to try  and manners to finish ;). Ceremonial breaking of the top of the barrel, then we gave it our best shot - certainly was better when they warmed it up :D. Every Japanese girl (and there were plenty of stunners) coming up to our table and we were speaking in our bad limited Japanese, they were just giggling. We learnt all about "sutto" (スット, すっと) [ @Katie :D] and being "beron beron" (very drunk) [ベロンベロン, べろんべろん]

We lost our faces that night (couldn't feel them that is ;) ) and well, I came back to Australia with an Australian girlfriend (who then became wife number 1). Still want to try and forget the next day though :(:p:eek::oops:. Not been able to look sideways at sake since....

Service NSW says this is because the high demand for refunds is placing an extra load on its system: more than 200,000 refunds were claimed in the first two days they were available.

You will need a MyServiceNSW account and your bank details to apply for the refund. If you don't have an account, the set-up takes a few of minutes.

Confession time. Was this girlfriend with you when you left Australia or was she, ahem, a result of sake indulgence.

The latter. In fact, whilst we had met at the group meeting organising our holiday, she gave no indication of any interest and likewise for me.

She had come to my hotel room (that I was sharing with another of our group) earlier in the day, but only to clarify the time we needed to be downstairs and to explain the running sheet (everything was time choreographed to the minute), saying she just wanted to speak English again (she'd been in Kochi with the bride for 10 days prior to wedding).

We also happened to be on the same flights KCZ/HND and then NRT/CNS (so we had a bit of time to talk). Seems we had some things in common...she did work for QF and spoke fluent Japanese and lived in Brisbane o_O

i did also come home with a love of okonomiyaki, Kirin, Asahi, udon noodles and the Shinkansen.

But then again, she did work for QF and spoke fluent Japanese and lived in Brisbane...

You just broke the internet.

You just broke the internet.

No but your story does! Next question. When your son gets to drinking age, will this be a learning story to be told?

Actually, my follow up story would break the internet, but it's a bit saucy (and no, not what you think...get your mind out of the gutter  ;) :p)
