My introduction to car servicing was when I bought my first new car-a Datsun 1600.Probably the best performed car I have owned. However I doubted the dealer really did any servicing so on my last service with them I put a spec of paint on the spark plugs-they were supposed to be replaced, numbered each tyre-they were to be rotated etc. When I came to pick up the car I produced my piece of paper and said let's just check the car before I pay-nothing had been done except a wash and detailing.Didn't pay, never went back.
within a week mrsdrron took the car to her work.she was working in a Greek doctor's surgery in Marrickville. The car played up and the doctor said I will get my Greek mechanic to check it out-turned out to be Nat Zarnado who raced 1600s at Bathurst.
Well I went to pick the car up.as usual I floored it at the lights-it had been sluggish but went from 0-60 in no time flat so hit the brakes and it literally stopped on a sixpence. And it went from doing 24-28 MPG t0 40+ MPG.

My Dad's first was either going to be a Valiant or a Charger. Valiant won because it had 4 doors. Damn.

Cars from the 70's are easier to service yourself. Problem is finding spare parts these days. Jay Leno had to 3d print a part he needed for one of his really old cars.

I was told brakes needed urgent replacement. This was at a centre near MrP’s work. I decided I’d take it to a centre just near home and dropped it off. They called me 30 minutes later and asked why I wanted brakes replaced as they were fine. A few enquiries at MrP’s work found that many had their brakes recently ‘replaced’ at the same servo.

Big shout out to RooFyer @RooFlyer for what must be a thankless process collating trip reports. Huge task - looking good!

Perth has a long weekend this weekend so double demerit points apply for driving infringements from Thursday thru to Monday evening. Still that didn't stop a hoon driver at 3 am.

With supermarkets attempting self check outs I am expecting "sales" of potatoes and carrots to exceed the amount grown. Sales of bananas and grapes may drop alarmingly.

JohnM enjoy your ride. My eldest son is still talking about the ride you are now taking.
Of course I am now thinking about his overnight run from Perth to Brisbane in economy on points. I think he may notice the difference.

My nephew who lives in LA is little excited the the Tigers are in the AFL grand final. He posted this on FB this morning:

I always said if the Tigers get in the finals I'll move back to OZ. Even got to say that to Matthew Richardson & a bunch of other Richmond players over beers in LA one year.
Unfortunately the landscape has changed. I could ditch the family & just come home. I mean I did promise. I could say, daddy's going for some cigarettes & just disappear.
Screw it! It's the bloody finals, I'll see you there! The family will just have to learn to live without me!!!!
Hey kids, daddy's going out for some cigarettes ;):p:p:p:cool:
Go Tigers!!

Now that is a naughty nephew you have Straitman.
It has been a long time between grand finals for the Tigers.

Go Crows.
Both Crows and Richmond have been absent from the GF for the same period I believe. Or something like that.
At least the Crows will be better represented in the crowd than GWS was. We know so many people travelling over.

And Crows get to wear the correct guernsey.
