Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Does it still work (bar a flat battery)?

Good question. So I rummaged around in here to find its cradle.

Found it, but broken, so a bit more rummaging produced another Pilot. Its cradle only has a cord with a 9 pin plug. So a bit more hunting around found one of my old laptops, c2004 that I hadn't had on for years. Managed to fire it up and plug the Pilot in.

I don't remember being able to charge by 9 pin plug? Fascinating web page all about connectors.

Anyway, the laptop had a fit when it booted - lost its date and couldn't get CMOS (remember that ) to work properly; fiddled a bit and it booted. More fits when it connected to my wi-fi and it realised that things had changed over the years.

"Anti virus out of date!" - well yes, I imagine it is after being asleep for a few years.

Its been doing its calisthenics for a while and now its sitting there, nervously. I wonder if Vista will want to update?

Of course this was an invention that was before its time and didn't take off.

Self play tape cassette. Plug your headphones in and it plays, without the need to put it into anything.

We are doing a ,slow, cleanup at the moment and haven't found a PalmPilot or Walkman but my wife did find a $100US Amex Travelers Cheque from 1975. We put it away carefully in 1976 for our next trip, which after kids didn't occur for nearly 20 years, and it obviously was in a very safe place.

I also have an original Gameboy that still works, with tetris game and a discman.

Wish I kepts some of the very first mobile phones that came out.

Me too! I have a couple of games, though not Tetris.
I also have all my old phones, including the Nokia 5110 (and it still works...same cant be said for my older iPhones).

Dropped my car of this morning for its 10 year service....feels like I only bought it yesterday.

They had market stalls in Brisbabe the other day. Footlong Bratwurst $10 or seafood Paella $12. Hmmm which one?

I had Paella once ~25 years ago. The photo looked nice. Better get some. I was handed a plastic container and took it home. Think I found 2 small pieces of squid buried in the rice. Wife hated it.

What I got was nothing like the advertising. I will walk past that stall again one day.

That's an impressive service interval! ;)

That is very impressive (la[top that is) that its rechargeable battery hasn't leaked everywhere in the meantime and is still able to recharge. Lost My favourite desktop motherboard to a CMOS battery that decided to burst despite only being (notionally) 4 years old. Most inconvenient and time consuming.

I have not found a good paella in Brisbane yet. I have tried the paella from the markets (not the seafood one) and I wasn't really impressed, even though I ate it pretty much straight away.

Dad one day wants to make his own paella. I think he may be underestimating what it takes to make a good one, let alone an authentic one.

Those footlong bratwursts are nice. $10 isn't cheap, but at least it tastes good. Messy to eat, though.

One thing these days with all the trend on big burgers and big hotdogs, it is nearly impossible for anyone to take a mouthful of said items which includes everything, unless you have a really big mouth. You can squeeze it, press down on it, heck I'd say you could get out a vice grip, but it's nearly impossible to get a good solid mouthful, let alone eat it without eventually the whole thing falling apart. You could try using a fork and knife, but really?

Expect some minor delays into/out of BNE this afternoon, nice short sharp storm cells heading our way:

...

It's coming down hard now in our area! Lightning is also not far away. Hopefully we retain power.

Enjoying Hard Quiz at the moment with Tom Gleeson, one of the contestants topic this week was The Rockford Files. So from the golden age of television:

Not in this thread I believe.

We need an ICAC review on our weather bureau. Today it was 29 ish. Beautiful. Fine and mild for tonight’s footy final. Take a jacket as it might get coolish. No mention whatsoever of rain. For a few days now. And - it’s raining!
