We used to have chicken pox parties as the illness as a child is thought to have been milder than as an adult. I'd say most if not all people get it eventually.

MrP developed shingles too. Dr refused to give him the early treatment as he said he seemed to be coping with it. :(.
When I developed shingles the doctor and pharmacist couldn't get me onto the treatment quick enough. Their view was the earlier the treatment the milder the symptoms. I am glad they did, because it was bad enough with the anti-virals. I hate to think what it would have been like untreated.

If you really took notice medhead I quoted someone else not you.You are proving yet again that you will interpret what I say in the way you want as you obviously know what I am thinking better than me.

Yep, that's my point. If you took notice I wrote it did not seem to be directed at me. You still owe me an apology. You got it wrong.

It is truly sad that trying to share information results in these sorts of supercilious attacks when someone incorrectly decides they know better. When you make false assumptions, as you've admitted. It was your words that were wrong, if you were thinking something different why didn't you write it down. How have I misinterpreted your written claim that the restarting reactor is 108 km from Fukushima?

It is pretty despicable to try to hide from your mistake by throwing accusations at me.

Is that right medhead?

How much do you think a 1985 Holden HDT VK Brock Commodore Group A in mint condition sells for today? Hint! Only 50 were made.

Which one of the below listed cars is a 1985 Holden HDT VK Brock Commodore Group A?
As I wrote bog standard XB falcons earn more than the numbers quoted previously by you.

The market value of a 1974 HQ Holden Kingswood in good condition would be $2150.

The market value of a 1978 VB Holden Commodore in good condition would be $1300.

The market value of 1983 VH Holden Commodore in good condition would be $1950.

Go figure.

Asked a mate (Has a HQ Monaro) if any of the latest Holden's (i.e. Monaro) would be collectable. His surprised me by saying you need to go back to the VN Commodore Group A for a collectable.

I know another guy with a VK Brock Commodore Group A. I think build number 2. Going for over 100K.

One bloke in Adelaide stored his Holden Kingswood "Atlantis Blue" HZ sedan and only drove it 998km before his death.

1979 Holden Kingswood found pristine condition 998km on odometer

Again interesting, but I'm not sure about how that relates to bog standard cars.

You still owe me an apology.

I'd give it up if I were you, as I don't think you're going to get one.

Kind of reminds me of something my dad said to me before I left Australia again recently. He was commenting (or rather criticising) that I hadn't found a girlfriend yet, got engaged, got married, had kids. I noted to him rather light heartedly that he and mum seem to be arguing a lot more (or rather, dad yells and mum just let's him win - we all do), and this is meant to be two people who love each other.

His reply was basically that two people who love each other means you can say anything to each other without wanting to kill or physically hurt one another.

Hmmmm...........

Yeah....no. That's disfunctional, not a loving relationship.

ROFL. :D Google 'Panax'. Yes, even a geothermal resource, but completely uneconomical (unfortunately). Just like tide 'energy'; and 'solar' if it wasn't subsidised by the government (ie you and me)

Tim Flannery did his nuts on his geothermal project in, I think, SA. Couldn't happen to a nicer, uh, guy. Unfortunately taxpayers also got bilked.

Solar is terrific if you have it :D My system paid for itself in under 3 years ... pity the poor sods that have to subsidise my >$4,500 annual tax free payment.

Magic pudding economics - what a joke!

Exactly. That's why I got solar earlier this year, before politicians wake up to what a boondoggle it is. Where else can I get a $600 return per quarter on an investment of $7,000? Thank you taxpayers of Australia.

That's Geodynamics . They had, and still do have one of the best 'hot granite' type geothermal resources in the world. Potential for multi gigawatts.Unfortunately, in the middle of nowhere, and the cost of drilling didn't come down as ( reasonably) expected.

Geothermal didn't get that much off the government ( and a number of announced grants never got made as the projects were never ready). Also missed out on a share of the RET.

Geothermal companies were either ASX listed or totally private - and got their funds from those sources, mostly. So the Flanneled Fool lost out as a Geodynamics shareholder, but had a very nice little earner in the taxpayer.

I'm a bit hazy on the chicken pox, shingles, herpes virus connection. I had chicken pox as a kid so does that mean that I am more or less likely to succumb as it lives in the nerves endings, or some such thing and comes back to bite you when you are physically stressed?
Varicella zoster virus. Hate it with a passion.

Had chicken pox at 46 years of age. Spent 11 days in hospital on anti virals and antibiotics. Have a weak immune system. Ripped right through me. Another 3 weeks to recover at home. I couldn't stand up. I wanted to double over. Had no control. Felt like I was going to die.

Has left visible scars. Still have issues today with some nerves. Definite mental scars as well. The scary part is it lies dormant in the central nervous system for years and can strike again.

Yep, when I got Chickenpox around 30, that was painful enough. Hopefully can ward off Shingles.

With Sydney and Melbourne housing prices looking like telephone numbers it is hard to see how many adult children can get a start in home ownership.
London would be tough that's for sure.

It is quite a challenge for all young people, especially with downward pressure on wages (and low pay rises) across the economy.
