It does. Down to about $300.

It has been changed in the last 12 months to be a massive fine if the driver is not nominated. This was because company registered cars were being used to avoid any demerit points. A financial incentive to dob in the driver. A good thing IMHO.

I wonder if seriously any company would now consider just paying up the couple of grand instead of pinning a driver.

I assume there is almost no way of claiming fines on a tax return (personal or corporate).

YEP YEP YEP to most - nominate driver and fine does come down - life is full of long stories and you guys would love this one - but alas - story cannot be told in full - actual driver will pay reduced fine - as JT stated this system instigated to 'nab' the demerit points dodgers - creativity is so stimulating. ;)

We will have to add it to the agenda for when next our paths cross.

Clearly I'm in the wrong industry - I should start issuing traffic fines :p

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

We have the same system here in NSW. Nearly had a heart attack (and a few choice words at the cost of the fine) when I opened the mail to company car speeding fine. I had no problems dobbing in the Boss's wife as the offender.

If you keep making the same mistakes does it mean you are not learning from your mistakes? Or a fool?

Recently instigated in Vic as too many 'Corporates' failing to nominate actual driver - previously amts were same.

They were slow to do that then, it's been more expensive in SA for quite a while. Probably a major revenue source for our crippled state.

Pusha are you seriously trying to tell me SA are ahead of us Easterners in any way, shape or form? I'd like to see that!

Until recently, there was a lesser (but still much) enhanced fine for failing to nominate a driver - before that (about a decade or so ago) IIRC there was also the penalty of deregistering a vehicle for several months if driver was not nominated - I wonder why/if that was removed..

They've had this system in QLD since at least the mid-1990s. But back then the fine was issued with 2 prices, the large one and a smaller one that would apply to the nominated the driver. That's why I asked if the fine would drop when nominating.

Had an 11:00am appointment at Rheumatology clinic. There are about 12-15 people waiting. Perhaps more.

Nurse comes to see me at 12:45pm giving me form to fill out. I tell her I can't wait much longer and will leave shortly as I am going back to work then head off to airport. She checked and it will be at least 30 minutes. I drew the short straw and will be one of the last to be seen.

I tell receptionist I am leaving at 1:15pm and head to train station. Receive a call 5 minutes later wanting to know where I was as the doctor called my name. Too late I am already at the train station.

She wishes me a Merry Christmas and asks if I will be returning in New Year. I don't know what I will do.

It is like when you ring a large organisation with a problem and after countless press this and press that button, you get to speak to a person who is completely unable to fix the issue. Then in closure, asks if there is anything else they can help with (um, nope) then wishes you a great day and you hang up, realising you just wasted 20 minutes of your day getting nowhere.

From time to time I see a doctor who is notorious for being late. Mind you this isn't helped by me as I enjoy a chat.

I make sure I book early appointments to reduce the effect of any delays. Can you book the first appointment slot for the day?

If i have a appointment with a doctor for 10:30, they have +- 5 minutes of that time before I say something, if the doctor is running late, they should show common courtesy and text you to say the doctor is running late. Don't get me started on why it takes chemists 15 minutes to fill a prescription...

They are both service industries
