Some interesting studies to think about next time you see someone famous-

So the funnier you are as a comedian, the more famous a singer actor or sportsperson the shorter your life expectancy.
So when you spot someone on a plane,in a lounge or hotel just go up and commiserate.:D:shock:;)

Looks like I'm a complete sell out. Ignored my principles and accepted a move to an earlier flight on a non-flexible fare at Qantas' request. Despite my resolution to say no and make them risk having to put me up in a hotel. 25D, despite 4B being open.

Multiple points sales and discounted premium air fares are not healthy for the bank or credit card balance. On top of that, it's worse when you need to decide to spend now and not spread it over a few months / pay cycles.

That is all. Back to regular programming. :D

What were you thinking young quiz master? Oh 4B... I understand. John.

No fear of that, my last red-e-deal that Qantas changed was over 12 months ago. ;)

BTW got home to a letter from the Barossa tonight, seems Buzz from the Post Office worked a treat. Thank you.

Expert flyer and an excellent gate agent to the rescue 16C with shadow beats 4B any day. At least I didn't sell out into a middle seat at the front

Damn. Can't find the car!

Maybe I misread the situation (again) but I thought sending a message about flying internationally to see someone would have meant a message back either way. Nope, just a read receipt.

Public service announcement:

Even if it is freezing outside, wearing deodorant is still ordinarily mandatory.

Thank you - as you were.....

On a more narrative note, as some people know, Switzerland has four official languages (none of them is English, FWIW). On the national train service, more often than not all announcements are made either in the local language or in German and French. English announcements are only made mainly for services to/from airport stops. However, on the train between Lausanne (French CH) and Bern (German CH), a conductor made a manual PA in French, German and English.

Nothing too special: it was an announcement telling everyone to be mindful of pickpockets on the train.

I have no idea how to post a facebook link so here is a link to the protect the protectors page. The post in question is a picture of a fire truck with a cricket bat at Rupertswood. https://www.facebook.com/ProtectTheProtectors?hc_location=timeline

And to continue with the theme - it is quite weird seeing ambulances without the chalk writing on them.

Now off to find a police story to finish the theme...

Absolutely, it felt very wrong to be watching that on TV.
I think for me (has already been mentioned by kpc) I'm a little surprised that there has been no mention of organ donation. Maybe it did happen but the family have chosen to keep it private.
I don't mean to appear insensitive and apologise in advance to those that find this difficult. I personally believe wholeheartedly that we need to get over our fears and anxieties about this and cannot have too many conversations about it before it's too late to do anything about it.
I agree wholeheartedly. I have made it clear to my family that I am happy to donate anything of use to anyone.

Looks like my brain over reacted. That is a relief that there's a totally valid reason.

Might end up spending a couple of days in Melbourne. Normally my mum has a long to-do list for a 5 day break from work. Apart from maybe a planned trip to the doctor, there's nothing on that list.

Jeez - fuzz in Vic taking no prisoners re Traffic Infringements for Company Rego Vehicles:

So, who screwed up?

I'm not sure about private vs corporate or tourist vs resident/citizen, but from what I can tell, the same offence in Switzerland would result in a fine of no more than CHF 600. For exceeding by 9 km/h, the fine would likely be closer to about CHF 100 - 200, provided no one (else) was endangered. The fine would have to be paid within 30 days without dispute (disputing a fine results in a court appearance and all gloves are off) and no criminal record is registered.

In Switzerland, there is no demerits system, only fines and possible infractions shown against criminal records (public and non-public).

I would suggest the fine would drop significantly once a driver gets nominated ...

It does. Down to about $300.

It has been changed in the last 12 months to be a massive fine if the driver is not nominated. This was because company registered cars were being used to avoid any demerit points. A financial incentive to dob in the driver. A good thing IMHO.
