On Tripadvisor, there is also often a useful button toward the top that says something like, 'which room' to choose.

Considering the threads re overbooking it was interesting to see this when considering flights to NAS next year-
This view displays seat availability only. We do not oversell our flights, so if there is no available seat to select, one will be assigned to you at the airport.

There was a similar incident in the 90s. Raman Lamba a retired Indian cricketer, post retirement was captiain / coach for a domestic bangladesh team. One ball before lunch he decided field at short leg without a helmet, he was hit on the forehead by a full blooded pull shot. He died 3 days later aged 38.
There's also this current one as well...an umpire killed, minutes after a 1 minute tribute to Philip Hughes:

I think many will be missing the Adelaide Test as last word is that this will be moved up a few days so the Brisbane Test can be put in a gap.

It was to start on a Friday which will make it a weekday event.

It has a domino effect as many involved in the organisation of Test match hosting will find it difficult to arrange leave etc to be available.

Scrap the Big Bash? That's the logical thing to do but money rules.

I've heard rumors of starting the First Test on Saturday, instead of Thursday - but that will impact on the Adelaide Test (only 2 day turnaround if it starts on time). It should be delayed as otherwise player management (fatigue and injuries) becomes untenable.

I can't think of a modern day similar experience (player dying during Test Series) to even gain experience on the player management side (grief counseling, etc) - everyone will have different timeframe.

The logistics behind the management of test matches were an eye opener for me. One thinks, open the gates and let them play. Then there are the considerations of the opposing team. But at such short notice I can understand why it is taking quite a while to sort it out. And I imagine there is no heart in trying to do so - just a lot of effort in times of great stress.

The risk of injuries is significant. I can't imagine much practice at the moment.

I'm on the other side of the world from my friends and family.

Is it possible to fully arrange Christmas gifts for all of them, without:
  • Needing to rope in another friend to pull a few favours,
  • Buying everything here and having it mailed back home, necessitating the questionably-prompt international mail service,
  • Resorting solely to gift cards and online credit as gifts?

Is there a general whinge about VA thread? Or should I start a crew luggage over Exit rows/Row 3 thread?

There isn't even a general whinge about QF thread - everyone just starts a new one.

I thought there was a thread whinging about the issue you raise there, but otherwise just start one.

It's clearly so important an issue to me that I haven't even done a search. ;)

Usually rope my sisters into sorting it, or do things for them as an early xmas present while they visit (if that works) otherwise buy things online in AU and send that way!

"Don't do the report, <IMPORTANT PERSON> doesn't want it any more"

I would think that sentence is quite simple. But some genius still sends me a draft report to review... sigh
