Please do Flashback, there are some of us that have a hankering for knowledge. Very fortunate you still have Mrs Flashback, if that's the case. Give her a hug and kiss from me :D

A day of lovely soaking rain.... another 40 odd mils today. Everything is green and the tank is full.

Sounds like my wife was rather lucky then to have made such a full recovery. I'm sure when she had her stroke and the bleed on the brain it was something along the lines of a vertebral artery dissection. Can confirm if the resident medicos on here are interested.

A dissection is a tear in the lining of the artery. It can severely reduce the flow of blood but no bleeding outside of it.
this case was a traumatic rupture of the artery. The artery is no longer in tact hence permanent loss of blood supply unless artery can be repaired surgically and very quickly.
I have a very lucky patient whose ascending aorta began leaking when he was rear ended at the Rode rd intersection of the Gympie arterial.Even luckier as a Sunday morning and the Consultant cardiac surgeon walked into the PCH ED as his diagnosis was made, fortunately very quickly.

Brisbane insurers have over 15000 claims lodged worth over $100M -all in 24 hours.

Rapidly approaching a catastrophe event in insurance terms

Car 10 (the safety officer) had a bag of cement in the back of the ute (or lots of super glue) and was able to fix it , all is well again:
Great. I swapped 4F for 10C and leaving later than my original flight. :(

Vertebral artery dissections are relatively common and can hang around for a while with no major problems at times. As mentioned above, the rarer aspect of this is the traumatic destruction of the artery and the secondary major sub-arachnoid haemorrhage.

Glad your wife did well though!

Ah... well, have dug out the letter and it says..... Left medullary infarct with left vertebral artery dissection and coexistent left subarachnoid haemorrhage.

I'm not sure if all of the above covers the bleed on the brain that was noticed before the stroke.......

Having fun trying to clear my Mac after my external HDD pooped itself.

Can't grab a new one until I update my Mac OS...

Does it come to times like this when every executive member in the insurance industry basically bawls into their hands as hard and as loud as the rain that fell that caused all the said damage now being requested for claims?

Are we going to get the same "too many unilateral rejections" / "policies updated to exclude so and so" / "premiums increased" / "government to intervene" (or not)..........

Out of the mouth of babes just in time for American Thanksgiving. There's always someone who says something different & Isabella is the one here.

I've tested positive for campylobacter also, after a trip to Bali. I was contacted by our health department as it is notifiable and tried to tell them I developed it in Bali but they wanted to know where I'd bought any raw foods in the last week. I'd been back for just four days. Legian supermarket wasn't on their list.

To make it worse back in those days in Bali airport the water turned off around 11pm and flights departed at 1am.

The symptoms of this illness are rather unpleasant. :(

Decided on our upcoming trip we might give some of the better restaurants in BKK a go.Went to the 50 best restaurants in Asia list and there are 6 in Bangkok.
So looked them up on Trip Advisor. The best rated of those 6 came in at number 88 on TA.Nahm which was the top of the best 50 at 441.But Bo.Lan which cam in at 28 on the best 50 list on TA was 1334.
The real surprise for me though was the Living Room at the SGS which is a bar and jazz club that you can order food from the SGS restaurants comes in at 8 on TA.
Those in the best 100 on TA usually had 2 characteristics-cheap and non Asian food.
The Terminal 21 food court though came in at 100.Now it is good food at cheap prices but it is just a food court.
