And to all the very best for 09, and will not be posting again (after tonight:)) untill next year.

Stay safe - fly well

It occurs to me that anyone posting on Christmas day is a sad, lonely old sod. Oooops.

Merry, safe and enjoyable Christmas to all.

Is it ok to post on boxing day; and not to be thought of a sad; lonely old sod.

The internet is such a big part of most of our daily routine, breakfast; lunch; dinner; internet; TV.

So did anyone get Christmas gifts? Or just a lump of coal? :)

I received a cologne, a tie and a diary. Oh, and USD 100 from the folks.

Fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiive nice black lumps (of coal), four lumps of coal, three more and, two lumps of coal...... and a partridge in a pear tree :D

I trust you are going to use all that coal in a responsible, environmentally friendly fashion.

Easily done!

Make a solemn promise not to burn it; then claim Carbon credits for not doing so.

Once the Carbon credits have been converted into a sizable balance in ones bank account, donate the unburnt coal to charity and claim the value of the donation on your income tax.

I personally prefer highly compressed coal. Much shinier and cleaner.

Agreed. Loses the horrible dirty black colour when highly compressed.

Could make for a very cheapskate late Christmas present, get a lump of coal and have it set into a gold ring, so when SWMBO complains that she wanted a diamond ring, you can just say "well, give it a bit of a squeeze...."

Back off topic and belatedly answer some questions-

13.First time was on TAA.Was able to snag a great student airfare SYD-POM which was only $10 dearer than Y.Figured quite rightly I could drink more than $10 worth of alcohol-so dont ask me any other details of flight.

16.I try to fly on 9/11 in the states-have done this 5 times.
First was flying an HS748 of Fiji Airways HIR-POM in 1969.Was lying on my backpack outside the Nissan hut that was Honiara's international terminal when the captain walks over and says "Are you drron?"Why yes."Well do you want to go now as you are the only passenger?"No worries.
On board there were 2 Fijian FA's and a flight engineer relocating.Mentioned it was my birthday,it really was. They opened up the bar.Arriving in POM I appeared at the top of the stairs with an FA on either arm and the Military Band struck up God Save The Queen-the Australian GG was expected to arrive.Didnt take them too long to realise I wasnt the GG.

Re: The next set of (fun?) questions...

21. Beer, Wine, Spirits or none?
22. Based on this version of the all-day dining at the SYD F Lounge, what dishes (up to 3 + 1 side dish) would you order? (You can assume you have 2 hours before departure, so no rush.)
23. What would the world be like if flight upgrades never existed/ceased to exist?
24. Describe how well you are able to sleep on board an aircraft.
25. In Economy class: aisle, middle or window seat?
26. In your opinion, which Australian capital city has the best domestic airport? And which has the worst?
27. A very weird (AFF?) genie appears and says: "On only one sector in the Australian domestic network of your choosing, I shall grant a guarantee that this sector will have 100% on-time performance and 0% cancellation rate, forever."

Which sector would you choose?
28. Describe the time when you were travelling with the most check-in luggage you have ever carried.

29. If travelling on longhaul international for a company/work purpose, would/do you prefer:
  • Travelling in J but being expected to work (and return) as soon as possible, or
  • Travelling in Y but having a day's allowance on either side (i.e. of arriving and departing) of your trip?
30. Describe a time in which you almost missed a flight (but still made it).
21. Beer or spirits!
22. Something edible!
23. No problem. And yes I did travel in the early 90's.
24. I can sleep upright on a moving bus or through an earthquake. How much trouble would I have sleeping on a flight?
25. Definitely Aisle....
26. SYD is the best and sorry HBA but you have the worst.
27. BNE-SYD. Does SYD-BNE also count as part of the same sector?
28. If I remember correctly I have only had around ~25kgs check-in luggage at any one time. But there was a trip LAX-SYD in 1990 where it felt I had >~30kgs of carry on luggage. Well I did but I cannot say too much just in case I get charged extra.
29. Travelling in WHY but having time off work before and after the trip.
30. Too many times that I care not remember....
